YOUTH CUP DRAWING NEARER
The Easton Foundation Youth World Cup (age 16-and-under girls’ fast pitch) is almost two months away (65 more days). The tournament will take place at the ISF world headquarters complex in Plant City, Florida, from December 30-January 7 with teams from countries such as, but not limited to, the Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Russia, and the USA. During the event there will be a softball skills festival and an ISF umpire certification seminar. Go to the website homepage and click on the link above the countdown to the first pitch for more information on the Youth Cup.

ISF VIDEO IN FESTIVAL
The promotional video entitled “Women’s Fast Pitch Softball: From the playground to the Olympics… and everything in between” was chosen to be among the many films shown during this week’s “Sport Movies & TV” festival in Milan, Italy. Organized by the International Cinema Television Sports Federation (FICTS), the five-day event will be attended by media, worldwide networks, producers, directors, filmmakers, Olympic Committees, and Sports Federations, among others. ISF Director of Communications Bruce Wawrzyniak will be among the many on-hand. The video can be viewed at www.youtube.com/ISFsoftball#p/u/12/1MmLgAhsa4Q. ABANDONED LUXURY CARS

You had to know it was going to end. Dubai’s storied boom is starting to falter as the worldwide economic woes catch up with the nation’s real estate and financial services-fueled good times. Abandoned cars are beginning to pile up at Dubai International Airport as overextended expatriates flee. Dubai throws debtors in the pokey, and if you lose your job, they yank your visa; two good reasons to drive to the airport and leave your maxed out credit cards on the passenger seat with an “I’m sorry” note. 3,000 cars are reportedly stockpiled at the airport so far, and with reports of 1,500 visas a day being cancelled, there may be a lot of dusty, cut rate luxury cars available for closeout prices.
