Texas 15, Wisconsin 1 (5). The 15th-ranked Texas Softball team posted its third-straight run-rule victory. The Horns’ offensive outburst marked the third-straight game that UT has posted 14 or more runs. The victory improved the Longhorns to 6-0 on the season and dropped the Badgers to 1-1. Senior designated player Shelby Savony headlined the offense with a two-hit effort that included a career-best five RBI. Freshman centerfielder Brejae Washington left her mark on the UT record book in the win, becoming the first-ever UT player to record two triples in a single game. Sophomore rightfielder Taylor Hoagland extended her hitting streak to 17 games against the Badgers, a mark that only stands second to her UT-record 21-game streak from 2010.
The Badgers scored, top 1st; Kruger singled and scored on Blackshear’s rbi single. The Longhorns answered with three in the bottom half. Hoagland doubled, scored on a throwing error. Savony singled in two runs. Texas added five in the 2nd after Luna struck out the side in the top half. Scott reached on an error; Washington singled; both advanced on an illegal pitch, Scoft scoring. Hoagland and Bennett walked; three runs scored on an error. Hooks homered; Najdek relieved McIntosh. Texas plated six more runs in the 3rd. Washington tripled with one out, scored on Hoagland single. With two out, Hoagland advanced on a wild pitch; Taylor and Hooks walked; Tjom singled in two runs. Savony jacked a 3-run homer. Texas, which racked 10 hits, scored a final run in the 4th; Scott walked and scored on Washington’s second triple. Texas stranded three.
