 TOP 25 GAME NOTES
Alabama def Virginia Tech 7-3.  WP Leslie Jury; LP Jasmin Harrell.  The Tide was shaky at the start.  Top 2nd, Rose walked; Merida reached on an error at 3rd on a sac bunt; Rose scored on a wild pitch.  McGoldrick reached on an error by Jury; two on, both stranded.  The Tide took charge in the bottom half; Davis  smacked a 2-run double; with runners at 2nd and 3rd, Bocca slahed a 2-run single to center, 4-1 Tide.  Top 5th: Gaskill hbp; Anderson reached on error at 2nd, Gaskill scored.  Again, Bama responded with force, Lunceford hittting a 2-out, 2-run homer.  Top 6th: Merida reached on another error by Jury, and scored with 2 out on Spaw’s single.  Bama also added a run: Braud led with a double, stole 3rd, scored  on Boccia sac fly. Bama 4 errors.

Missouri lost to Eastern Kentucky 6-5 (10). 
WP Robb.  LP Thomas.  Unranked Eastern Kentucky scored 4 runs in last 2 innings against #5 Missouri to send game into extra innings.  Three EKU runs top 7th gave a brief lead before Tigers tied in bottom on Genovese sac fly.  EKU broke tie in when Gallagher scored on Howes single.  Tigers responded; ITB runner Kinglsey scored from 3rd on Hudson sac fly.  EKU 10th: ITB runner McQueen was sacrificed to 3rd, and scored on Mitchell’s sac fly.   Krebs on 2nd advanced on Genovese sac bunt, but was out at home on Sykes fielders choice.  With Sykes on 2nd, Hay was hbp, tying and winning runs on base, but Stephens popped to 3rd.

Georgia def Buffalo 8-0 (5). 
Erin Arevalo 2-hitter.  LP Tori Speckman.  Two out, bottom 1st, Sandberg homered.  Hubbard jacked a 3-run shot in the 3rd.  Two on bottom 4th, Pauly singled rbi.  Sandberg hbp; bases loaded, Sito wlked, rbi.  Pauly out on FC at home, but Wilson hit a 2-run, 2-out single.   
Louisville def Hofstra 7-6 (9).  WP Tori Collins.  LP Olivia Galati.   S Caralisa Connell.  Tied 3-3 end of seven, each team scored 2 runs in 8th.  (L’ville had trailed 2-1 in 7th, but scored twice, only to see Hofstra force overtime.) Louisville 8th: with two out, Arion jacked a 2-run homer.  Hostra loaded the bases on a fieldeer’s choice and error.  With 2 out, Ainbinder singled in 2 runs.  Top 9th: Paysen on 2nd; Esteban singled; with one out, Paysen scored on Keller’s fielder’s choice.  Fowler tripled, rbi, 7-5.  Thom on 2nd, one out, Galati reached on error at 3rd; Ziemba reached on fielder’s choice, Thom scored.  With 2 out, Crews reached on error at short.  Rocha grounded back to Collins.
Louisville def UNCG 5-4
Kentucky def LIU 2-1.  WP Bell; LP Reynolds.  Two out in Wildcats 1st, Dill hit bunt single, scored on Riley single.  LIU tied top 3rd on Hoham’s one out homer.  LIU stranded 2.  O’Brien led KU 5th with a triple,scored on error at 2nd.   
UCLA def UCF 3-1.  Bruins win eight straight behind Jessica Hall.  UCLA broke a 1-1 tie (both teams scored in 4th – in the 7th when Bates homered, and Camuso followed with a homer. In the Bruins 4th, Harrison led with a double; one out later, scored on LaRosa double.  Central Florida tied in bottom half; Sullivan homered with 2 out off Bruin starter Ally Carda. LP M. Audas.
Michigan def Kentucky 3-0.  WP Haylie Wagner; LP Ellen Weaver.   Frustrating loss for Wildcats who stranded 7.  After KU stranded 2, top 2nd, UM scored all its runs.  Wagner walked; Sweet sacrificed; Knapp singled, pinch runner Crummy to 3rd; Kirkpatrick doubled in 2 runs.  Doyle singled.  With 2 out, Doyle stole 2nd, Kirkpatrick scored on catcher error.
Michigan defeated Florida Atlantic 2-0.  Tight game; UM had 3 hits, FAU 5.  WP Sara Driesenga; LP Taylor Fawbush.  Top 3rd; Doyle reached on error at short; Evans reached on fielder’s choice, advanced on error at 1st, Doyle scored.  Two out, Chidester doubled in the second UM run.  FAU 7th: one out, Barnes singled but was forced by Stovall.  Ballard singled; with tying runs on base, Diaz grounded out.
 Stanford upset by Nevada 11-3 (5). 
WP Mallory Darby; LP Nyree White.  Nevada took control in top 2nd.  Bases loaded, Brill walked, rbi; Hopkins reached on fielders choice, rbi; Lastrapes singled, 2 runs scored.  Trailing 4-0 bottom 3rd, White singled, scored on Rich 2-out double.  Top 4th; Barilli doubled, Hopkins singled, Barilli scored on error at 2nd; one out, Lastrapes doubled; Puzey singled, rbi.  Rich went to the Stanford circle, immediately gave up rbi single to Fincher.  Fincher and Puzey scored on an error. Wiley sac fly,bi, Barilli rbi triple, 7 runs on 6 hits.  Stanford loaded bases, bottom 5th; Hassman and Wright singled; Hansen walked; Hassman scored pm fielders choice by Rich; a second run scored on Schmidt’s groundout.
Stanford 8, Nevada 2 .  WP Teagan Gerhart; LP Karlyn Jones.  The Cardinal found the hits which eluded it in Game One, 14 hits to 8 for Nevada.  After Gerhart struck out two of the first three batters, Hassman singled, stole 2nd; White singled; Hansen sac fly rbi.  Nevada left bases loaded in the 2nd; Stanford came back for more.  Winter, Becerra singled; Prong sacrificed; Pura sac fly, rbi; Hassman tripled, rbi.  Craig relieved Jones.  White singled, rbi.  Lastrapes homered in top 3rd.  Bottom 3rd: Cardinal loaded bases but Rich out at home on fielder’s choice.  Bottom 4th, one out: Hassman singled, stole 2nd; White doubled; Brewer relieved Craig.  With 2 out, runners advanced on wild pitch, Hassman scored; Rich rbi single, 6-1.  Three consecutive singles led to a Nevada run in the 5th, Wiley scoring on Hop0kins single.  In bottom, Pura tripled, 2 runs scored, and Nevada put Jones back in the circle with score 8-2.
Texas 7, Pittsburgh 2 (Friday) The University of Texas Softball team used a big second inning to defeat Pittsburgh 7-2. The game started Friday afternoon, but was suspended due to inclement weather, and play resumed Saturday afternoon before weather forced the game to be called in the bottom of the fifth inning at Red & Charline McCombs Field. With the win, Texas improved to 7-0 on the year and the Pitt Panthers drop to 1-1.
