Six teams ranked in the ESPN USA Softball poll were defeated Friday. Fourth ranked Tennessee lost twice; 5th ranked Florida lost to 6th ranked Missouri, and 16th ranked Georgia fell twice. Florida State (#23) lost to #22 Washington, and 19th ranked Arizona also lost. Top ranked Oklahoma survived two close encounters. Last game of the night, #17 Stanford was upset by Oklahoma State.
Florida 5, Syracuse 1
WP Bache. LP Kuwik. Gators scored one in 1st aided by an error, the added 2 in 4thon Stewart’s triple. Two walks led to two runs in 5th. Syracuse scored on a sac fly in the 7th.

WP Perry. 2H, 8K. LP Vondrak. Seminoles scored 7 in 3rd, 1 in 4th, 7 more in 5th. bFourteen hits included 5 rbi by Hensley on 3 hits inc homer, Senas 3 rbi inc homer.
Cal Poly 1, Georgia 0
WP Wurst. LP Glasco. In 5th, Cal Poly loaded bases on single, walk, single; with 2 out, Gerhart drew the rbi walk.
Northwestern 3, Georgia Tech 2
WP Lamberth. LP Rush. All runs scored in 7th. Top: Rudnik and Rush had rbi’s. Bottom: Scharkey knocked in a run, Bast drove in the tying and winning runs.

Missouri 4, Florida 3 (12)
WP Thomas LP Rogers. Both teams scored single runs in the 11th. In the 12th, bases loaded, 2 out, Hudson drove in the winning run for #7 to defeat #5. Moore had a solo HR for the Tigers; Hudson drove in 2 runs; Crane one run. Gator rbi’s included Gammel with 2.
Oregon State (6) Nevada 5 (11)
WP Demore. LP Jones. The Beavers scored 3 runs bottom 4th; Nevada scored 4 in top 4th for a lead, until OSU tied with a run bottom 6th. The teams traded runs in the 8th. Oregon State scored the winner with two out, bottom 11th. Jones and Butera homered for Nevada; Cavestany was 2-3 with 2rbiand HR.Kutz had 3 rbi for OSU.
Utah 7, Colorado State 3
WP Amu. LP McCarthy. Leading 3-2 after 6, Utes scored 4 runs in 7th.For Utah, Hoopiaaina had 2 rbi; Dickman 2, Mendenhall 1 (solo), Pacheco 1, Ramirez 1. Wikre had a solo shot; Rodriguez had 2 rbi.
Northwestern 3, Tennessee 2
“WP Letourneau. LP Tarango.Wildcats broke 2-2 tie with run bottom 6th. Letourneau held the #4 Vols to 4 hits. Edwards led the victory drive in the 6th with a double. DiPrima singled, and runners moved on an error. Blast drove in the first NU runs with a 2-run homer. Gibson homered for Tennessee.
Washington 2, Florida State 0
WP Walker. LP Waldrop. The Huskies scored both runs bottom 2nd; Fagaly and Souza scoring.
Stanford 6, Georgia 0
WP Stevens. LP Montemayor, Stevens limited the #16 Bulldogs to 4 hits in sending them down to their second defeat of the day. The #17 Cardinal scored a single run in the 2nd, then 5 runs in the 5th. Hassman hit a 3-run HR for Stanford; Winter also had an rbi.
Oklahoma 5, UCSB 2
WP Gasoigne. LP Wisdom. Keilani Ricketts relieved for 2+ innings after Gascoigne, who had 11 Ks to that point, had loaded the bases. Chamberlain led off the game with her 37th career homer. Williams was 3-3 with 2 rbi. Martinez and Turang also had rbi’s. Wisdom drove in both UCSB runs.
LSU 7, Ohio State 0 (Fico no-hitter)
WP Rachele Fico no-hitter. LP O’Reilly. Fico walked two and hit one batter, three short of a perfect game. LSU took charge witha 4-run 2nd. In the game, Kloss had a solo HR; Bell had 2 rbi on 2 hits; Simmons and Andrews had rbi.
BYU 5, UNLV 3
WP Howell. LP DePippo. UNLV scored three runs off Almond. UNLV held a 3-1 lead thru four innings but BYU tallied 3 top 6th and a final run in the 7th. Bravo, Shamo-Hudson and Arnold had rbi hits for BYU. Aleman, Harrison and Monreal drove in the UNLV runs.
UCL A 2,Tennessee 0
WP Carda. 2H,6K. LP Ellen Renfroe. Stung earlier by Northwestern, the #4 Vols never got their offense untracked, racking just two hits off Carda. One would-be homer was snagged at the center field fence by Bennett. UCLA scored both runs bottom 1st; Goulder walked and was doubled in by LaRosa, who then scored on an error. As might be expected in a very close game, tensions ran high, and UT co-head coach Ralph Weekly was ejected. Rookie Paige MDuffie pitched the last 2 innings for the Bruins and gave up no hits. Today was Olympian assistant coach Lisa Hernandez’ birthday. Happy!
Washington 15, Illinois 0 (5)
WP Inglesby. LP Gay. The Huskies put this game away with 9 runs bottom 1st. They added 3 in the 3rd, 3 in the 4th. Lahners had 5 rbi, including a homer; Inglesby had 4 rbi on 2 hits; Wright had 2 rbi; Hayward, Braun, Souza, and Jones one each.
Oklahoma 2, Nebraska 0
WP Ricketts LP Edwards. Unranked Nebraska’s Edwards held the vaunted Sooner machine hitless until the top 7th. OU had loaded the bases without a hit in the 5th but, on a 3-2 count, Pendley looked at a third strike. Meanwhile, Ricketts had limited Nebraska t 3 hits, surviving the Huskers biggest threat with a double play. Top 7th, Turang broke up the no-hit bid with a single. Chamberlain and Casey walked, loading the bases. Shults slashed a double past first base, driving in two runs. Ricketts hit a fielder’s choice, putting Casey out. Pendley hit into a 1-2-5-2-4 double play. Nowit was up to Ricketts to preserve the Sooners unbeaten streak, and she set the Huskers down in order.
LSU 6, UNLV 1
WP Czechner, 4H, 8K. LP Foti. The Tigers had a 2-1 lead, going into the 6th, when LSU scored 4 runs. Blades had 2 rbi on 3 for 4 hitting; Alcaraz had 2 rbi on 3 for 3 hitting; Falcon also had an rbi.
Cal 8, Georgia Tech 0 (6)
WP Jolene Henderson one-hitter. LP Clifton. Henderson faced the minimum 18 batters.Jones drove in 3 runs; Kostreba, Ziegenhirt, Danielle and Jolene Henderson 1 rbi each; Wallace one rbi.
Arizona 0, Ohio State 6
WP DiDomenico LP Pinon. The unranked Buckeyes scored twice top 1st, added a run in the 4th, and 3 in the 5th. Watkins hit a solo for OSU. Pranti drove in 2 runs; Coletta and Pickett one each.

Unranked Beavers 10th consecutive win.
