WP Erin Gabriel.  LP Shelby Kosmecki.  Rookie Rainey Gaffin hit her first homer while going 2-3.  Bottom 1st: Gibson’s one out rbi single scored Chavanne.  Vols 2nd: Brown singled, scored on Gaffin’s rbi double;Gaffin advanced on an illegal pitch, scored on Chavanne’s rbi single.  Bottom 4th: Overstreet singled, scored on Gaffin’s homer.  Hammond and Chavanne singled, Hammond scored on passed ball. Chavanne scored on Dotson’s fielders choice. Gaskey relieved and held off the Vols the next two at-bats.
#11 Louisville 6, Iowa 4
Rachel LeCoq.  LP Chelsea Lyon.  Keller was 3-4 and Fowler connected on a 3-run double as the Cardinals held off the Hawkeyes, who are getting votes in national polls.  Louisville, which committed 4 errors, racked four runs bottom 1st.  Keller led bottom 1st with a single; one out, Wolny singled. Ruckenbroad reached on a fielder’s choice. Two out, bases loaded, Arion hbp, rbi. Fowler 3-run double.  But the Cards didn’t score again until the 5th, when Ruckenbrod singled, rbi; another run scored on Arion’s fielder’s choice.  Iowa rebounded in the 5th; Hoffman and Masssey singled, both scored on Zoeller’s triple.  Connell relieved LeCoq and ended the rally.  Iowa 7th: Dowling reached on an error at short, and eventually scored on another error at short. Two out, Gyerman drew a bases loaded walk, rbi, 6-4.  Hawley looked at a third strike to end the game.

#12 LSU def Georgia Southern 8-0 (5)
WP Rachele Fico 2-hitter 8K.  LP Sarah Purvis.  The Tigers who rapped 2 or fewer hits in Fico’s 13 losses last year have been a reliable hitting club in 2013, collecting 12 hits in this game, including five in the 2nd.  Bell and Alcarez led with back-to-back homers.  Simmons singled; one out, Houston walked; runners advanced on a wild pitch; two outs, Andrews socked a 2-run triple and scored on Blades rbi single.  LSU added three runs in the 5th for the run rule.

WP Meghan Patterson 3H, *K.  LP Sarah Purvis.  Each team scored two runs in the 1st.  Georgia Southern scored 2 runs on Douberley’s 2-out double.  LSU responded with Kloss’ 2-run single.  Tigers broke tie on Bell’s rbi single in 3rd.

#21 Kentucky def WKU 7-1
WP Lauren Cumbess  LP Mallorie Sulaski  S Kelsey Nunley.  Wildcats scored 4 in 5th.  Freshman Nikki Sagemann hit first career homer, 2-3 with 2 rbi.  Sagemann hit solo one-out homer in bottom 2nd, KU added 2 on Stokes rbi single.  Joiner walked, and Scheff relieved Sulaski.  Top 4th: singles by Garciaand MxGill, rbi, yielded the WKU run. Nunley relieved.  KU 5th: Joiner hbp; one out, Carroll singled; Sagemann rbi single; Garcia rbi single; two more runs scored on an error at 2nd.
