Georgia Tech 12, Niagara 3. Tech banged out 13 hits, taking a 4-0 lead after the 1st. Bases-loaded singles by Rudnik and Bear (2 rbi) and an rbi walk by Rush built the early lead. But Niagara rebounded in the 2nd on rbi ‘s by Russell and Richberg, and Healey’s solo HR in the 3rd. Tech added a run in the 3rd on a homer by Rush. After Allen relieved DiMatteo in the bottom 4th, Kuzma doubled and scored on Priebe’s triple; Priebe scored on an error. Sinclair homered to open the Tech 5th. Bases loaded, Priebe jacked a grand slam to close out the game on a run-rule.
Missouri 5, Drake 0. Scoreless until the 4th, when the Tigers scored four runs. Bases loaded, Taylor slugged a grand slam home run. The final run in the 5th came on Hudson’s solo shot.
Missouri 8, Drake 1. Drake scored its run, top 1st, and held off the Tigers until they tied 1-1 in the 3rd. Missouri scored 3 in the 4th, 1 in the 5th, and 3 runs in the 6th. Missouri improved to 7-3.
North Carolina 6, Charlotte 2. UNC improves to 11-5. Charlotte racked 2 of its 3 hits in top 3rd; Ingersoll singled, scored on Vela’s homer. In the bottom, Blake drove in a run with a sac fly, Dickey solo HR. The Tar Heels broke the tie in the 5th. Scarboro and Wheeler singled; Blake doubled in 2 runs. Dickey hit her second home run, a 2-run shot.
North Carolina 4, Charlotte 0. In her previous outing, Lori Spingola pitched a perfect game. Today, Lori had 10Ks, striking out the side in the 2nd, three Ks in the 3rd (2 hits). Nece scored bottom 2nd on Robinson’s single. Wheeler opened the bottom 3rd with a solo shot. Blake doubled in a run in the 5th, followed by a sac fly rbi by Dickey.
Oklahoma 3 North Texas 0. Ricketts shut down North Texas on 2 hits, with 8Ks. The Sooners managed just 5 hits off Ashley Kirk, who also had 8 Ks. Top 2nd, Nix sikngled, Ricketts walked, after a sac bunt by Jones, Hughes doulbed in the two runs. Jones homered in the 4th. OU stranded 4 runners.
Ole Miss 5, Southern Mississippi 4. Tied 3-3 after 7, Southern Miss took the lead top 8th, when the ITB runner, Mathis, scored on Takeda’s sac fly. In the bottom, Ole Miss loaded the bases. ITB runner Cantillo scored the tying run on Overbeck’s sac fly. Javiohn reached on an error at short, Wall scored the winning run.
Oklahoma State 2 Tulsa 0. Tulsa outhit the Cowgirls 7-4, but couldn’t squeeze a run. OSU scored in top 3rd when Hamilton singled in Gearhart. Anchors scored in the 5th when Hamilton hit into a bases-loaded double play.
Dutch national team 6, Michigan 1. Witteveen singled, scored top 1st; Michigan tied in bottomhalf, Evans singled, scored on Chidester single. Pinch runner de Wind scored with two out in 2nd on error at short. The 4th began with a double by Starrenburg, and single by Anneveld. Stephanie Speierman relieved Payne. Marinus grounded out, rbi. Witteven singled. With two out, the Dutch pulled a double steal. Two more runs scored. The Dutch outhit the Wolverines 9-5.
