 Judi Garman Classic– Fullerton, Calif.
#6 Arizona State 10 UNLV 0 (5)
WP Hillary Bach 2-hitter.  LP Kylie Wagner
The Sun Devils reached run-rule, bottom 5th, when Boyd crushed a 3-run home run.  Carlson jacked a grand slam in the 3rd.

#8 Oklahoma 2, Virginia 0
WP Kirsten Allen.  LP Melanie Mitchell
Mitchell pitched effectively, limiting the Sooners to four hits, while striking out 7.
After six scoreless innings, Oklahoma junior Dani Dobbs delivered a two-RBI double in the top of the seventh inning to propel the 11th-ranked Sooners (25-6) past Virginia, 2-0, on Saturday morning. Freshman Keilani Ricketts pitched two innings in relief to move to 15-5 on the year. The Cavaliers (13-11) stranded four runners, including three in scoring position. UVA got one hit against Oklahoma starter Kirsten Allen, a third inning single to left by Alison Pittman. Virginia starter Melanie Mitchell allowed four hits and two unearned runs. She struck out seven and walked one. Oklahoma got a 2-for-3 performance from senior Amber Flores. Sophomore Evan Sallis and Dobbs added OU’s only other hits. After stranding three base runners in the first six innings, OU got a break in the seventh when freshman Jessica Shults reached on a fielding error. Senior Lindsey Vandever then walked and pinch runner Chana’e Jones moved to second. Dobbs then came through with a one-out two-RBI double to right center to plate Jones and Vandever. Allen went 5.0 innings, struck out three, allowed the one hit and walked two. Ricketts had one strikeout in her 2.0 innings pitched.
#14 Texas 5, #4 Michigan 2
WP Blaire Luna 2-hitter. LP Jordan Taylor 10H, 8K
A night ago, Texas was upset by CS Fullerton, which ended a 13-game losing streak; today Texas upset Michigan, a Top 5 team all season — and another game in which an umpiring crew liberally festooned Taylor with illegal pitch calls.  (NCAA has instructed umpires to enforce the rule, but it has not been uniformly applied here, to Taylor or other pitchers).   Top 1st: Bennett drew a one-out walk, scored on Hooks’ 2-run HR.  The Horns added a run in the 2nd.  Feight singled to center, advanced on illegal pitch then on Craig’s sac bunt, scored on illegal pitch.  Hoagland singled, stole 2nd.  Top 4th, Feight singled, advanced to 2nd, illegal pitch; Hoagland singled with one out; Hoagland stole 2nd but Feight was out at home, 2-6-2.  Bennett drove in Hoagland, 4-0. Bottom 4th:  Shaw was hit by pitch, advanced on fielder’s choice and error, scored on Nemitz rbi.   Hooks walked to lead the 5th, scored with two out on throwing error by catcher. Bottom 7th:  Findlay, Viefhaus walked with two out, Findlay scored on fielding error by shortstop.

#36 San Jose State 8, Virginia 4
#31 Louisville 6,  CS Fullerton 2
WP Kristen Wadwell.  LP Ari Cervantes.
Top 1st: Esteban singled, James doubled, both scored on Wolny’s single.  The Cardinals boosted that score by four runs in the 2nd; Roth doubled in two runs.  Heinle relieved Cervantes.  The Titans racked their two runs in the bottom on Harrison’s 2-run HR.

#1 Washington 8, Utah 0 (6)
#4 Michigan 3,  DePaul 1
WP Nikki Nemitz.  LP Becca Heteniak
The game, which featured an unusual double put-out at 3rd which killed a Michigan rally in the 3rd, was tied 1-1 into the 7th.  Michigan scored top 2nd on a Chidester home run.  DePaul tied bottom 3rd when Yniguez singled and scored.  Top 7th: Shaw homered.  Chidester scored the final run.

Purdue 14, #32 Louisiana-Lafayette  7
WP Suze Rzegocki.  LP Donna Bourgeois.
Liane Horiuchi belted 2 home runs, 6 rbi.  Molly Garst went solo. Kristen Allen was 3-4, 2 rbi.
DePaul 3, #36 Fresno State 2 (8)
WP Bree Brown.  LP Morgan Melloh.
DePaul had trailed 2-1 from the 2nd inning, but in bottom 7th, Shizas scored on Cziezki’s rbi.  In the 8th, Fresno State could not advance the ITB runner.  In the bottom, with Morocco on 2nd, Heteniak struck out, but Brown was hbp.  Morgan singled back to the circle, Brown  advanced, and Morocco scored the winning on an error by shortstop.  In the 1st, Gilleland led the game with a home run.  Ortega doubled, advanced on an illegal pitch, and scored on an illegal pitch.  In the DePaul 2nd, Morgan singled, advanced on an illegal pitch; Thompson walked; Dodd reached on an error.  With bases loaded, Yniguez ground out, rbi.

Arizona 1st: DelPonte grand slam.  Wildcat 3rd: Chamber 2-run home run. New Mexico 3rd: Anderson tripled, scored on Kalapsa  double; Kalapsa  scored on Garcia double.  After Gatson relieved Gutierrez, to pitch the 4th, Schutzler doubled in two Arizona runs.  Bledsoe homered in the bottom half.   After Arriola singled to open the 6th, Debroeck relieved Gatson.   Lastrapes singled home the finalWildcat run in the 6th.
