The race to reach Oklahoma City goes into high gear this weekend with conference competition and some tournaments.
Alabama def DePaul 4-3.WP Amanda Locke. LP Kirsten Verdun. S Leslie Jury. Scoreless until bottom 5th when the Tide scored four runs. Dawson, Lunceford, Braud singled, leading the bases with no outs. Fenton jacked a grand slam. DePaul scored twaice, top 6th, and a final run in the 7th. Two on, Braden scored on Verdun’s rbi, but Jury came on to nail the final K and DePaul left 2 on.
Tennessee def Mississippi State 8-0 (5). WP Ellen Renfroe. LP Stephanie Becker. Chavanne opened game with a triple; Dotson hbp; Chavanne scored on Shipman single, Dotson on error. Chavanne led the Vols 3rd with a double, scored with 2 out on Shipman sac fly. Two out in the 4th, Brown homered. Texas def Iowa State 8-4. WP Blaire Luna. LP Tori Torrescano. Texas scored 2 top 5th to tie, then Horns broke 2-2 tie, top 6th, with 6 runs. Scott homered with one out; Bennett doubled in a run; Taylor 2-run double; Craig scored on a fielder’s choice; Taylor scored on Scott single. Outhit 12-5, the Cyclones attempted to rally in the 7th; with 2 runs on Cole’s double.
Oklahoma 2, Baylor 0. Battle of aces — OU’s Keilani Ricketss vs Baylor’s Courtney Repka — each giving up 4 hits — decided in the 7th by two Sooner runs. One out, Ricketts homered. Two out, Casey doubled; pinch runner Sampson to 3rd on a passed ball; Sampson soctrf. Kettler reached 3rd for Baylor but was stranded. Ricketts had 14 Ks. (Bad night for whomever did Gametracker; screen is black, but Sampson scored.)

Razey singled in 2 runs, Olney singled, rbi; Couey rbi single; 2 LOB. One out in the bottom, Montemayor relieved Arevalo. Two out, Brown homered. Georgia scored last 2 runs in 5th on Razey 2-run homer. Ole Miss rallied for 2 in the 6th, on rbi hits by Brown and Bruning (double).
LSU 5, South Carolina 0. The Tigers scored their 5 runs in the first two innings. Pitcher Rachele Fico took it from there, striking out 10, yielding 4 hits. Top 1st, LSU scorted on Langoni rbi and on illegal pitch. Top 2nd, Andrews singled in a run. Blades dounleed in 2 runs. Kierstyn White took the loss.
