Auburn 8, Mississippi 0 (5). 1-hitter by Bunner. Auburn scored 7, bottom 2nd: Guzman 2-run triple; Harrison 2-run double; Stangl, Estell, Eisenhold rbi. Schultze scored in 5th on Estell single. Auburn 28-5/5-3. Ole Miss 12-24/2-9.
Missouri 10, Texas Tech 1 (6). Another commanding performance by Thomas: 1H,10K. TRigers 14 hits included 4 home runs: Fleming 2rbi, Lee, Krebs had two, a solo shot and a 3-run blast. Missouri 26-3. Texas Tech 35-3.
Texas A&M 6, Baylor 5. The Aggies hit three bombs, including a walkoff home run by Morgan to win. Baylor, which led 4-1 into the top 5th, took a 2-0 lead in 1st on rbi by Turk and Walker. Morgan homered bottom 4th. Bears added 2 in 5th on Leal 2-run HR. Dumezich relieved Sisk. The Aggies posted 3 runs bottom 5th, to tie, on a 3-run homer by Dumezich. Bears broke tie top 7th on Leal’s second home run. Bottom 7th: Dumezich walked; Tovar in to run; Morgan hit her second dinger to win. Texas A&M 28-8. Baylor 27-5.
Oklahoma 6, Nebraska 3. Oklahoma needed a win over another ranked team, and received a big boost from Jessica shults, who ranks second in D1 home run production. Williams homered in 2nd for first Sooner lead. Huskers tied in 3rd; Guile singled, scored on Haget double. Shults led the OU 4th with a solo shot. Oklahoma scored 4 in the 6th, starting with Shults’ second homer. Dobbs jacked a 3-run blast. Nebraska scored 2 top 7th, but left bases loaded. OU is 27-9/1-1. Nebraska 27-4/1-1.
Tennessee 5, South Carolina 4. The Vols won a squeaker, scoring one run in the 6th and two in the 7th to erase a 4-2 deficit. The Gamecocks loaded the bases, top 1st, one out. Renfroe relieved Cat Hosfield. Milks jacked a grand slam, 4-0 USC. Bottom 1st: Grieve doubled, scored on Burchell single. UT halved the lead bottom 3rd on Gibson’s homer. Bottom 6th: Andrews singled, scored on Grieve double. The Gamecocks had stranded 7 runners in six innings and would leave another in the 7th. Spigner led off for UT with a double; Fowler in to run; with two out, Andrews walked on four pitches; pinch hitter Davin singled, rbi, tying the game. Chavanne singled, Andrews scored the winning run. Tennessee 27-5/5-3. South Carolina 17-15/3-10.
Georgia 5, Florida 1. The Gators got one of their two aces back, Hannah Rogers, but the Dawgs completed a 3-game sweep. Schlopy led off the game with a single; stole 2nd, and scored on Hesson’s single. Hubbard doubled in 2 runs in the Bulldogs 4th. Goler’s 2-run homer in the 5th upped the lead to 5-0. Florida scored when Bush led off bottom 5th with a solo homer. Georgia 27-4/8-3. Florida 30-4/7-3.
San Diego State 3, Stanford 2 (8). Upset of the day among ranked teams. Mathis singled, scored on Maeva single, top 3rd. May homered for SDSU top 4th. The Cardinal tied in the 6th; Hansen homered; Rich singled; Beasley relieved May. Prong singled; Miller walked, loading the bases; Rich scored on Burns’ sac fly. Stanford had chances to win in the 7th, Pura walked; Hanewich doubled but was put out 7-6. Hassman and Hansen were intentionally walked. Bases loaded, Rich hit into a fielder’s choice, Rich out at home. Prong grounded out. Top 8th: Mathis on 2nd, ITB, was sacrificed to 3rd by Marquez; Camellos struck out on a wild pitch, Mathis scored. Bottom 8th: Becerra on 2nd, ITB; Miller intentionally walked with one out; Gerhart in to run; both runners advanced on a wild pitch; but Burns struck out, Pura flied out. SDSU 20-14. Stanford 22-4.
Arizona 16, CS Northridge 5 (5). Home runs accounted for 11 of the Wildcats 16 runs – including grand slams by Kirker and Arriola. Del Ponte had a homer, and 3 rbi. Lavine had 3 rbi, Chambers 2. Game was momentarily close; UofA scored 6 bottom 1st, including Arriola grand slam. Matadors scored 4 top 2nd; Mosier and Carlsen each drove in 2 runs. DelPonte jacked a 3-run homer in the 3rd, and after CSN stranded 2 in 4th, Kenzie Fowler relieved Babcock. UofA added 2 on lavine’s double. The Arizona 5th: Del Ponte doubled; Chambers singled, her second rbi; Koria walked; Fraijo relieved Wade Arriola walked; Kirker racked her grand slam, ending the game in 5. Arizona 29-6. CS Northridge 12-18.
Arizona State 9, UC Santa Barbara 1 (5). Bach now ranks fifth all-time among Sun Devil pitchers with her 64th career win, 9-0 this season. Rogers hit a solo in 1st; Gill tied in 2nd with a solo.Sun Devils scored 5 in 2nd, including grand slam by Goodman. ASU’s 33rd win of season, including 25 straight at home.
Texas 10, Kansas 2 (5). Luna improves to 17-2. Jayhawks led 2-1, after the 1st, on Hull’s 2-run double. Hoagland homered in the bottom for Texas, which then scored 5 runs in the 2nd, Hoagland drew an rbi walk; Washington belted a 3-run triple; Spencer relieved Clark; Bennett scored on an error. Washington rbi double in 3rd. Feight and Hoagland rbi’s in 4th; Craig rbi in 5th. Texas 28-3/2-0. Kansas 26-7/0-4.
