GAME NOTES

 UCLA 14, Cal Poly 0 (5).  Game 1 may have started as a stroll but  quickly turned into a gallop. One out, top 1st, LaRosa homered.  Top 2: Bruins loaded bases on two walks, sandwiched around a Fox single. One out, Schroeder doubled in 2 runs to ignite a 5-run a-bat.  LaRosa slugged her second dinger, 3 rbi.  Top 3rd: Fox singled, scored eith 2 out on Snow double.  Bales opened the 7-run UCLA 4th with a solo shot.  Yudin walked; pinch runner Duran advanced on wild pitch; For singled; Tumalu singled, rbi; Yates relieved Wusrt in the circle; Schroeder walked; pinch runner Muller advanced on LaRosa single, her third hit of the game; Harrison singled, rbi; LaRosa scored on Bates sac fly; Bruins stranded 2 but led 14-0 on 14 hits.  Anderson and Lafrades singled bottom 4th, the first hits off  winning pitcher Jessica Hall.   Bottom 7th: Ceccacci walked, Gerhart singled, both were stranded.

UCLA 14, Cal Poly 5 (5).  WP Ally Carda.  LP Jordan Yates.  Bruins racked 18 hits, including homers by Schroeder (2-4, 4 rbi); LaRosa (4-5, 2 rbi) Harrison (3-5, 3 rbi), and Bates solo..

Notre Dame 5, Western Michigan 3.Amy Buntil saied a 3-run, walkoff home run to give the Irish a non-conference victory at Melissa Cook Stadium.  Through six scoreless innings, the Irish had 1 hit, and produced the five scores in the 7th.  The Broncos had scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th .  Laurern Stuhr had put the Irish on the board with a one-out homer in the 7th.  WP Laura Winter.LP Meredith Whitney.

Tennessee sweeps Furman 1-0, 8-0 (6).  Ellen Renfroe pitched her first collegiate no-hitter as the Vols won the second game of the series.  Sister Ivy hurled a 1-hitter in the first game, which the Vols won on a first inning single by Mellisa Brown.  In Game Two, Melissa Brown was2-4 with a double, two runs scored and 2 rbi.Cat Hosfield was 2-3, with a double and rbi, Kat Dotson was 2-3, scoring 2 runs.  Lauren Gibson had an rbi double and Cheyenne Tarango an rbi sac fly.

Alabama 4, Auburn 2.  Game One.  WP Jackie Traina, 1-hitter.  LP Lauren Schmalz.  Bama scored top 1st on Boccia 2-run homer.  Auburn cut the leads in half when Schultze walked and scored on a throwing error.  That score held until the 6th; Locke homered; three batters later, Hunt scored on Iamurri’s single. The Tigers had their first hit, bottom 7th, Mavromat homered.
