GAME NOTES
California 2, Washington 1.Bears score 2 runs bottom 7th. Reid and Echavarria scored on Williams bases-loaded, two-out single.  Echevaaria doubled, Reid singled; Arioto was given a pass. WP Jolene Henderson 9K. LP Kaitly Inglesy. Top 3rd: One out, Hayward, Pohlman singled.  Two out, runners advanced on error at 2nd; Inglesby drove in Hayward.  Huskies had 9 hits to 4 for Bears. 

Texas def New Mexico 2-1.  Horns broke 1-1 tie bottom 9th; Two on, Schmidt scored on Bruins’ single.  New Mexico led 1-0 with run on Carramusa HR top 3rd and held that lead until the 6th.  Bottom 6th: Hoagland walked; Washington singled; Hoagland scored on Bennett single.  Rachel Fox went the nine innings for the Longhorns.  Carrie Sheehan started for New Mexic; Kari Gutierrez gave up he final run.  Texas 28-2.  New Mexico 22-7.

 Tennessee upset by Kentucky 5-3.  WP Ellen Weaver.  LP Ellen Renfroe.  S Chanda Bell.  After the Wildcats stranded 2 top 1st, the Vols scored when Chavaanne tripled; Shipman walked; with 2 out, Brown singled, rbi.  KU took the lead top with 3 runs top 3rd.  Carroll doubled, Dill singled, Cervantes singled, rbi.  Riley singled; Cervantes scored on an error by Renfroe.  Box shows Riley scored, but Gametracker doesn’t indicate how.  Top 6th; Wildcats boosted lead on Carroll’s 2-out homer.  Bottom 6th: Gibson opened with a single; Brown reached on a fielder’s choice; Bell relieved Weaver.  Burchell singled in 2 runs.  Two on, no outs, but Tarango and Hosfield struck out, Chavanne fouled out.  Top 7th: KU scored a to-be-sure run; Riley walked; Weaver singled; Wildcats scored but Gametracker showed only blank lines.  Down 5-3, Vols loaded bases.  Dotson singled; Shipman and Gibson walked; Brown grounded into 4-2-3 double play; Burchell hbp but Davin struck out swinging.  Kentucky 16-17 (3-4). Tennessee 25-8 (7-5).

 Missouri def Baylor 6-1.  WP Chelsea Thomas.  7K.  LP Courtney Repka.  Tigers tagged Repka for 3 homers.  After Bears stranded 2 top 2nd, Hudson homered to lead off the Tiger half.  Genovese homered with one out in the Tiger 3rd.  Baylor again left 2 runners on, top 5th.  Missouri racked 4 runs in the bottom.  Genovese walked, Marston singled; One out, runners at 2nd and 3rd, Roth singled, filling the sacks with Tigers.  Two out, Muller jacked an 0-1 count for a grand slam.  Paul relieved Repka.  Bears got on board top 6th; Holl singled; two batters later, scored on an error by the  catcher.  Missouri 26-5.  Baylor is 22-10.

 

Oklahoma def Kansas 8-0 (5).  WP Keilani Ricketts — perfect game w/10K.  LP Alicia Pille.  Ricketts first perfect game. Sooners scored 2 bottom 1st, then 6 bottom 4th.  One out, bottom 1st, Chamberlain socked a solo.  Next batter, Ricketts homered.  Martinez relieved Pelle.  Simpson, Turang, and Norris hit no-out singles to start the OU 4th.  Henson singled, rbi.  Spencer relieved Martinez.  The Sooners Martinez reached on a fielder’s choice; rbi.  Chamberlain whacked a grand slam.  Ricketts ansd Casey singled, but no more scoring. Rickets became just the third Big 12 pitcher in history to record more than 1,000 strikeouts.  OU 28-4 (4-1).  KU 23-8 (2-5).  (No, readers, I do not know why Word Press shifted fonts and case.)

LSU def Arkansas 1-0. Rachele Fico racked 11 Ks and her ninth shutout as the Tigers.  Fico yielded 3 hits; no Arkansas runner reached 4rd.  LSU scored the only run in the 7th; Heyward drew a leadoff walk; andrews and Blades reached on bunt singles.  A throwing error on Blades hit allowed Heyward to score.  Fico is 12-4.  LP Chelsea Cohen is 11-10.

  Auburn def Ole Miss 9-5 (10).  Game was tied 5-5 end of regulation.

Alabama 5, Mississippi State 4.  WP Jackie Traina.  LP Stephanie Becker.  Game was tied 4-all until top 7th when Fenton and Boccia walked; Hunt sacrificed the runners. Locke given a pass, loading the bases.  Lunceford walked, rbi. Fenton scored winning run.  Bama Top 1st: Fenton walked, 2 batters later stole home, Locke rbi single, Tide 2-0.  Bottom 3rd: Bulldogs scored 2 to tie; Shape reached on an error at short, with 2 out; scored when Lanahan’s fly ball was dropped by the shortstop; Lanahan scored on Cooley’s rbi single.  After Bama stranded runners at 2nd and 3rd top 4th, MSU scored twice to take lead.  Fisher walked; Nesbitt homered.  Bama tied with 2 runs top 5th; Locke rbi double, Lunceford rbi single.  Bama had 3 errors.  Bama 32-1 (9-1).  Mississppi State 19-15 (3-10)

UCLA def Oregon State 8-4.  WP Jessica Hall.  LP Marina Demore.  Bruins scored quartet of runs, bottom 2nd.  Bates led off with a homer.  Camuso walked; forced by Yudin; Fox reached on pitcher error, she and Yudin moved to 2nd and 3rd.  Carda walked.  With two out, Schroeder was hbp, rbi.  LaRosa singled in 2 runs.  Deja vu: Bates opened the 4rd with a homer.  The Beavers got on board top 4th on Santana leadoff homer.  Bruins answered with three; One out, Snow doubled;; Schroeder reached on a bunt single; LaRosa jacked a 3-run homer.  Felckert relieved Demore.  UCLA stranded two.  Trailing 8-1, OSU scored 2, top 5th.  Top 6th, Carda relieved Hall.  Two wild pitches and finally an illegal pitch afforded OSU a final run.  UCLA 24-6 (1-0).  Oregon State 25-8 (2-2).

Auburn 9, Ole Miss 5 (10).  WP Lauren Schmalz.  LP Kendall Bruning.  Game was tied 5-5 end of regulation.  Auburn scored 4 runs, top 10th.  Mavromat doubled; with 2 out, Lathan reached on a fielder’s choice, rbi.  A walk and wild pitch put runners on 2nd and 3rd; Stephens advanced on a wild pitch; Kirkpatrick scored.  Two more runs scored but Gametracker offers only blank lines.  Auburn is 24-11 (3-7).  Ole Miss is 14-16 (2-6).

Stanford 4, Arizona 1,  WP Teagan Gerhart – 2-hitter, 9K.  LP Shelby Babcock.  Stanford was first past the gate, scoring twice top 1st.  Winter and White singled; with two out, Becerra reached on an error.  Bases loaded, Hanewich singled in both runs.  Top 3rd: White singled; Hansen bunt single; two out, Hanewich walked, loading the bases; Burns singled in 2 runs.  The Wildcats scored in the bottom half; one out, Wilson walked; Suitos sacrificed; Del Ponte tripled, end of all scoring.  Stanford 27-6 (1-3).  Arizona 21-9 (0-4).
