Editor’s note:  Gametracker is more confused today than usual, not only posting the inc0rrect logo next to team names but also listing incorrect pairings of teams and results.

Oregon 1, North Carolina 0 (8).  This game led off the new Diamond 9 Citrus Classic at ESPN Wide World of Sports.  With a Tar Heel on 2nd in ITB, Moore struck out 2 of 3 top 8th.  With Vitek on 2nd for the Ducks, Nieto advanced the runner with a sac bunt, Peterson rewached on a fielder’s choice bunt, Vitek scoring the winning run.
Longwood 2, Notre Dame 0.  Bottom 2nd:  Kramer singled, advanced on a sac bunt and wild pitch, scored on Cox sac fly.  Bottom 6th: Simmons doubvled, stole 3rd, and scored on Kramer’s  double. 
Louisiana-Lafayette 9, Virginia 1 (5).  The Ragin’ Cajuns pounded out 10 hits, with 3 rbi by Granger, 2 by Bridges.  In 2nd, Granger scored on an error, Smith had rbi, Bridges 2-run single, Orgeron rbi, Granger tripled 3 rbi, Granger scored on an error, 9-0.  Cippoloni singled in the Cavaliers run in the 4th
 Illinois 12, vs Temple 0 (6). 
The Illini, who racked 13 hits, were slow to get going, scoring 2 runs in the 4th on a one-out HR by Davis.  Pinchback jacked a 3-run shot in the 5th; Wedel drove in Simpson with the fourth run of the at-bat.  With two out in the 6th, Illinois delivered a six-run coup de grace, inmcluding a grand slam by Davis.
Alabama 4, Notre Dame 1.  The Crimson Tide, bouyed by Traina’s 12 Ks, scored singletons in each of the last four innings.  Top 4th: Taina walked, scored on Hunt’s 2-out double.  Top 5th: Conley walked, scored on Larsen single; Valdivia, who had 8Ks, struck out last two batters of inning.  Top 6th:  Hunt stroked a solo homer.  The Irish scored in the bottom; Bowe, Maldonado, Fleury opened with consecutive singles, Bowe scored when Johnson hit into a fielder’s choice; Miller singled, Fleury out at 3rd;  Traina nailed the third out.  Top 7th: Braud and Larsen singled, Braud scoring the final run on Boccia sac fly.
Stanford 5,  Southern Mississippi 0.  Chinn limited Southern Miss to 2 hits.  Bottom 1st:  Hassman and Hansen singled; Miller doubled in both runners.  With two out in 2nd, Hassman singled, Hansen walked, Rich rbi single.  Top 3rd: Gerhart hbp; Van Zandt homered to close out the scoring.
Northwestern 3, California 2 (9).  Humdinger of a pitching matchup; no scores in regulation.  ITB runner Wallace advanced on a two-out balk; scored on J Reid single; Reid was driven in by Vonk, who was picked off 2-3-4.  NU tied the score with 2 runs in bottom; ITB runner Scharkey advanced on Allard double, scored on Thompson sac bunt.  Monka walked; Allard scored on Batts’ sac bunt tp 3rd.  Cal had 2 on in 9th, two out, but Echavarria hit into a fielder’s choice, Vonk out at 3rd.  Majam advanced from 2nd to 3rd on Bast sac bunt; Tonz hbp; Wheeler hit into fielder’s choice, Majam out at home 4-2.  Scharkey singled, loading the bases.  Tonz scored winning run on Allard single.
Illinois State 9, Maryland 7.  Each pitcher was tagged for a home, (Birch for 2), and the 7th, which began with a 5-4 ISU lead, was highlighted by 4 ISU runs, and 3 for UM.  Maryland led 3-0 after 4 innings, McLaughlin scoring on Gent’s two-out single in the 2nd, and Hanafin jacking a 2-run homer in the 3rd.  ISU notched 3 runs top 5th; Nelson singled, scored on Kellar double; with two out, Kay slugged a 2-run homer. Czechner relieved Knight for the Terps.  ISU broke the tie on Nelson’s 2-run single.  UM answered with Carroll ‘s run on a single by Czechner.  The quartet of ISU runs top 7th began with a homer by Olson.  Kay and Andrews singled; Hickey relieved Czechner.  Canopy doubled in a run; Harrison singled in a run, Canoppy scored on a wild pitch; 4 runs on 5 hits.  With one out in the bottom, Galindo singled ahead of a homer by Hanafin.  Burton relieved Birch.  Hickey reached on an error; Branson singled; with two out, McLaughlin singled, rbi; the Terps had the tying runs on base, but Van Meter struck out swinging.  When the firing stopped, ISU had 11 hits, Terps 13.
Oklahoma State 2,  Illinois-Chicago 0.  Gearhart scored on Hamilton’s single in the OSU 3rd.  The Cowgirls scored the other run in the 5th; Anchors doublewd, Morrison singled; Hamilton hit into a double play, but Anchors scored.
Alabama upset by Louisiana-Lafayette.  The respective aces, Brignac and Dunne, kept this much-anticipated contest between unbeaten Chrimson Tide (17-1) and once beaten Ragin’ Cajuns (16-1) close until top 6th when Orgeron homered.  Brignac gave up 2 hits, Dunne 4.  Bama went down in order in the 6th and 7th.
Florida 13,  Valparaiso 4.  The Gators, whom some observers consider the top team in D1, overwhlemed Valpo, 14 hits to 4, enroute to their 13-4 win.  But Valpo took it to the Floridians, scoring 2 runs bottom 1st, Strickland walked, Bridwell singled, and Rutkowski doubled in two runs.  The lead was brief; Florida responded with 8 runs top 2nd.  Schutte led off with a home run; Coyle had 2 rbi; Bruder singled rbi, then Schutte hit her secondhomer of the frame, a 3-run shot.  8-2.  In the bottom starter Ensley Gammel yielded a bases-loaded rbi walk to Bridwell, and Brombacher relieved.  Florida added 3 runs in the 3rd, including a solo shot by Holle.  Marinec homered for Valpo in the 5th. Florida closed out the scoring with 2 runs top 7th; Moultrie tripled, Paculba doubled, and scored one a groundout.
Oklahoma 6,   Auburn 0.  Ricketts (3H, 11K) kept the Tigers off the board until the Sooners could find their hitting touch, which bedevilled them at Palm Springs.  Bottom 4th:  Wiliams walked, scored on Shults double.  Nix walked; Norris grounded int0o double play 4-6-3, but Shults scored.  Ricketts gave up 2 singles in the 5th but struck out three.  In the bottom, Dobbs was hbp; with one out, Martinez singled, and Bunner relieved Loree.  Dobbs scored on a throwing error at 2nd.  Bottom 6th: Ricketts walked, advanced on an illegal pitch; Jones walked; with two out, Dobbs doubled in 2 runs.
 UCLA 5,  BYU 2.  The Bruins scored 4 runs in top 1st.  With one out, Bates, DiSalvatore singled; Harrison jacked a 3-run homer.  Fox doubled, scored on Tiumalu double.  Schroeder walked and scored in the 2nd, but UCLA left bases loaded in the 2nd, and left 2 on in the 3rd.  BYU scored in the bottom 3rd; Messerscmid scored on Fitu double.   BYU scored bottom 7thDelahoussaye walked after two struck out, and scored on Clayton’s single.
Virginia 3, Oregon 2.  In its opener, the Ducks relied on an eighth-inning suicide squeeze to edge North Carolina, 1-0. Senior Ashley Kivett slide under the throw home, thanks to bunt towards the pitcher by freshman Alexa Peterson. Immediately after, Virginia (10-6) relied on several Duck miscues to win, 3-2 – UO’s lone blemish in its 4-1 record against returning NCAA tournament qualifiers this season.
Florida 2,  Syracuse 0.  With two out in bottom 1st, Moultrie scored on Bush single.  After Rogers struck out the side top 3rd, Gators scored in the bottom; Fagan led off with single, scored on Bruder’s bases-loaded walk.

ULM opened the game with a home run by Love, one of only 2 hits off Ellen Renfroe.  The nVols tied in the bottom; Gibson drew a bases-loaded walk, scoring Chavanne.  In the 3rd, Chavanne, Grieve and Gibson singled, Gibson rbi.  Bottom 5th: Chavanne scored her third run, off a Dotson single.
Missouri 5,  Southeast Missouri 0.  Thmomas had a no-hitter iknto the 6th when Stein and Sallis singled.  The Tigers scored 2, top 1st, and 3 top 7th.
Texas 4,  Pittsburgh 0.  Texas recorded its fifth-straight shutout as it downed Pittsburgh, 4-0, Friday afternoon in opening round action at the LSU Purple & Gold Challenge. The win improved the Longhorns to 15-2 on the year and dropped Pittsburgh to 7-4. Freshman righthander Rachel Fox (6-1) earned the win in the circle for Texas, firing her second complete-game shutout of the season. She scattered three hits, walked two and fanned four in 7.0 innings of work. Pitt starter Cory Berliner (1-2) took the loss after allowing four runs on 10 hits in 6.1 innings. Freshman centerfielder Brejae Washington headlined the Horns on the day with a 2-for-2, two-walk effort that included a UT single-game record-tying four stolen bases. As a team the Longhorns recorded eight stolen bases, equaling a UT single-game record. Sophomore leftfielder Torie Schmidt added two singles and reached on a fielder’s choice in the win.
Texas 5,  Hofstra 0.  Texas posted its sixth-straight shutout victory and sophomore All-America hurler Blaire Luna fired her fourth-consecutive complete-game shutout as UT downed Hofstra, 4-0. The victory improved the Longhorns to 16-2 on the year and 2-0 at the LSU Purple and Gold Challenge, while Hofstra fell to 6-5.
LSU 4,  Pittsburgh 0.  Meghan Patterson’s pursuit of her second career no-hitter came up two batters short as the Destrehan native faced one batter over the minimum during a 4-0 victory over Pittsburgh. The lone damage to Patterson was an Ashley Amistade bunt single with one out in the seventh inning. She cruised her way to 5-0 highlighted by a stretch of 17 straight Panthers retired and provided eight strikeouts against one walk.
LSU 1, Hofstra 0.  With the bases loaded and two outs in the ninth inning, Alex Boulet slapped a RBI single through the right side to lift the No. 21 LSU softball team to a dramatic 1-0 victory over Hofstra Friday to conclude day one of the Purple & Gold Challenge at Tiger Park. LSU (14-5) filled the bases on consecutive two-out singles from Lauren Houston, Juliana Santos and Jacee Blades before Boulet delivered the clutch hit for her second career RBI.  Brittany Mack (11K)  was dominant in the circle and sat down the first 20 batters she faced.
Baylor 5, UCLA 1.  Whitney Canion had a no-hitter, and a 4-0 lead, with 2 out, bottom 6th, when DiSalvatore singled.  Baylor had scored in 4th; Turk doubled, scored on Canion’s double.  In 5th, Shelton singled; Walker tripled, Leal singled, rbi, and scored.  Top 7th: Leak homered.  Fox led off UCLA 7th with a single, advancing on error in left.  Lindvall struck out.  Yudin walked.  Hall struck out.  Reed singled to right, Fox scored.  Schroeder became the third strikeout for Canion in the inning.
