Notre Dame 6, Fordham 0. Third consecutive win for the Irish who scored 3 in the 1st.  Fleury singled, Johnson reached on a fielder’s choice, Miller rbi single, Buntin rbi sac fly. Miller had a solo in the 3rd, and Wright hit a 2-run double in the 4th 

Missouri 11, Missouri State 0 (6).  Chelsea Thomas, whose promising start last season was curtaileds by injury, was in perfect form today – no hits, no walks, 15 strikeouts.  Marston and Schweisberger contributed home runs, Schweisberger 4-4, 6 rbi including a grand slam in the 6th.

Fordham 1, North Carolina 0.  Tightly pitched, tightly played.  Fordham scored bottom 1st; Bright singled, scored with two out on Leuty single.  All goose-eggs after that inning.

Oregon 6, Illinois State 0.  Bottom 1st: Burger singled, scored on Fulava double.  Bottom 2nd: Moore singled, Nieto doubled, Ceo singled, rbi, but Nieto out at home. Burger drove in Ceo,  Ducks pqdded lead to 4-0 in 3rd, Fulava scoring on Chambers sac fly.  Chambers and Fulava scored in 5th on throwing error at 3rd.  Oregon improves to 18-4.

Baylor 4, Fresno State 1.  Bears improve to 18-2, Fresno State is 8-3.  Each team had 6 hits.  Turk singled with two out, scored in Baylor 1st on Canion rbi.  Bulldogs tied in the bottom when Gilleland scored on Moore sac fly.  Top 5th: Shelton scored on Turk double.  Hosack’s 2-run homer in 6th closed the scoring.

Kentucky 3, Purdue 0.  Scoreless game until top 5th when Kentucky’s Riley doubled to left center. Pinch runner Rowlands scored on Jolly rbi.  Jolly and Dill (rbi) scored the last two runs.

LSU 2, Texas 1.  Two of the best young pitchers in D1.  LSU scored bottom 1st; Shaw singled, scored with 2 out on Wray rbi.  Longhorns tied top 3rd; Hoagland walked, scored on Bennett double; Horns stranded two.  Tigers reclaimed lead in bottom half; Heyward walked, scored on Young single.  Texas got two walks in 4th, couldn’t score, and two more left in 6th.  Horns down in order in 7th.  The win snapped a 5-game Tiger losing streak to Top 25 teams, datimg to last season.  The Horns stranded 10, five in scoring position, but each time Fico met the challenge.

Oklahoma  9, Illinois Chicago 1 (6).  Sooners completed sweep of Bedlam series on Saturday; added game today with UIC.  After UIC stranded two, OU scored 4 bottom 1st; all on bases-loaded walks.  Miller relieved Hewett.  Heeley scored the UIC run, top  2nd, Macias rbi single.  Bottom 2nd:  Jones doubled, advanced wild pitch, scored on Williams sac fly.  OU reached run-rule with 4 runs bottom 6th.  Shults 2-run double; Nix 2-run double.

Washington 12, New Mexico 3 (6).  The Huskies flexed muscles early.  Salling jacked a one-out solo shot in the 1st.  Wiliams doubled, Wright singled, Stuart belted a 3-run homer.  Down 4-0 in the bottom, Chels scored on Castro’s double.  After UW left bases-loaded top 2nd, New Mexico scored again, Anaya ona fielding error.  With 2 out in the UW 3rd, Inglesby homered.  Hayward and Smith singled and scored, Hayward stealing home.  7-2.  Bottom 4th: Clifton relieved UW starter Harris.  In a 3-run 5th, Pohlman doubled in 2 runs; the Huskies capped their 17-hit onslaught with 2 runs top 6th.

Texas A&M 1, Memphis 0 (9).  For 8 innings, Carly Hummel’s 19 Ks kept the Aggies off the boards; Lindsey Sisk had fewer Ks but also threw shutout ball.  Neither team could take advantage of the numerous walks in an error-free game. Memphis left bases-loaded top 8th.  Finally, bottom 9th, pinch runner Albus on 2nd, May singled to left, rbi.

Georgia 4, Chattanooga 3.  The Bulldogs are ranked 1st in some polls  but that didn’t impress Chattanooga which held a 3-1 lead after 3.  Morimoto and Harrison scored top 2nd on an error, and Baker racked a solo HR intop 3rd.  Owen relieved Montemayor.  Wiggins, who had doubled, scored on an illegal pitch in the bottom.  Echols narrowed the marginto 3-2 with a solo in the 4th.  Chattanooga held that 4-3 margin into the bottom 7th.  Echols walked; was sacrificed to 2nd; pinch runner Couey scored thme tying run on Schlopy’s double; Wright doubled in the winning run.  Georgia improves to 17-1.

Arizona 8, UC Riverside 0 (5).  Lastrapes scored on Chambers’ sac fly in the 1st.  UofA opened their 2nd with a double by Arriola, a single by Buchanan.  Arriola scored on an error; Buchanan scored on Kirker’s rbi double.  Lavine walked. Lastrapes doubled; Lavine and Clifton scored.  DelPonte singled, rbi. 6-0. The Wildcats hit the run-rule mark with 2 runs in the 4th on DelPonte’s 2-run homer.    Riverside left bases loaded top 5th.

Tennessee 10, Georgia Southern 2 (5).  Fogle opened the game with a solo shot on a 1-2 count; Tarashuk doubled, pinch runner Benton advan ced on  a wild pitch, Georgia Southern led 2-0.  Bottom 1st: Chavanne singled, scored on an error.  Grieve led the UT 3rd with a single, stole 2nd, advanced on an error, scored on Burchell’s single.  With 2 out, Spigner walked; Spigner and Burchell scored on another error (Southern made 3).  After Dotson jacked a 3-run homer in the 4th, Smith relieved Miles.  The Vols scored 3 runs again in the 5th.  With 2 out, Dotson drew an rbi walk; Burchell and Gibson hit rbi singles for the run-rule.

Florida 9, North Dakota State o (5).  The Gators set the tone for their 19th streaight victory with 4 runs bottom 1st.  Meade walked; Paculba homered.  Bruder walked, Schutte homered.  Parks relieved Johnson.  Holle reached on an error, scored in the 3rd.  Florida put an emphatic run-rule stamp on the game in the 4th.  Paculba and Bruder opened with consecutive homers.  Schutte walked; Bush homered.

Arizona State 11, Creighton 1 (5).  Setlik homered off Escobedo top 2nd, their last hurrah.  The Sun Devils took charge in the bottom.  Castillo and Johnson singled; they advanced on Urfer’s sac bunt.  Haro had an rbi groundout to tie; Boyd was given a pass, loading the bases for Rogers who swatted a grand slam.  After Telecky relieved for Creighton, ASU racked 5 more runs, Lockwood, Castillo and Johnson walked, Urfer rbi walk; Hovings relieved Telecky, Haro rbi single; Boyd doubled in 2 runs. Up 9-1, Lockwood led the ASU 4th with a solo.  Boyd singled, rbi.

Stanford 8, CSUN 2.  A 5-run 2nd inning propelled the Cardinal to victory. After Gerhart struck out the side in the top, the Cardinal loaded the bases.  Burns rbi walk; Hassman rbi single; Hansen 2-run double; Frajo relieved Wade; Hassman scored the fifth run on an error.  The Cardinal added 2 in the 4th; Van Zandt 2-run single.   Northridge scored both runs on back-to-back homers off Gerhart in the 5th: Thielges and Randazzo. In the bottom, Gerhart, who had 14Ks, homered.

Alabama  4, Virginia  0.  Jackie Traina day at the Citrus Classic.  The freshman  won a 2-hitter in which she drove in all four Bama runs – a 2-run double in the 1st, a 2-run home run in the 3rd
