Arizona State 8, Texas 3
— The Horns out hit the Sun Devils 12-7 but 2 ASU hits – a grand slam by Amber Freeman in the five-run 2nd, and a solo by Freeman in the 5th – set the table for a win by MacKenzie Popescue.  Texas scored in the 2nd; Kern doubled, scored on Ogle’s single.  The Horns staged a two-out rlly bottom 7th.  Scott, who had reached on a fielder’s choice, scored on Shireman’s single. Ogle singled, loading the bases.  Pinch-hitter Hanzel singled in a run.  Bases still loaded, Washington grounded out to 2nd for the force.
Houston 5, Long Beach State 7
— LBS scored two top 7th, for 7-2 lead, but Houston scored 3 bottom 7 to narrow gap. LBS had homers by De Gaetano (2 run shot) and Tautalafua (solo) while Edwards had 2 hits and 3 rbi for Houston, including a homer.  WP Hansen.  LP Outon.

— Tatum Edwards matched Dallas Escobedo strikeout for strikeout –10 each — but Edwards was tagged for four hits, including a walkoff single in the 8th by Wigness, scoring ITB runner Caporuscio.  The Lady Huskers had a chance top 8th; Tyason advanced ITB runner Edwards with a sac bunt. But Knighten was out on a controversial call at 1st; NU coaches thought the foul touched the ground but the umpire ruled that Kemp caught the ball tip of her glove; she then caught a foulout by Armstrong.

— The Wolverines have scored 3 runs in three games.

Arizona def by Michigan 3-0
— Michigan won its first game of the tournament, surprisingly giventhe three previous games it lost bydefeating the up-and-coming Wildcats.  Haylie Wagner, who pitched the well-noted win over UCLA on Wednesday, held the proven Wildcat hitters to 3 hits.  UM hitters tagged Estela Pinionfor for a run in the 2nd, adding a run in the 6th, then a final run off reliever Bowling in the 7th.

— After 5, Fullerton was leading 5-0.  Tsuchiyama jacked a homer that not only cleared the center field fence on Fieled1 but ceared the fence on Field 2.  Fresno committed 4 errors.
Washington vs Wisconsin.  Huskies leading 1-0 after two.
