#Arizona 8, Stanford 0 (5). With Cardinal shackled by Fowler, 1-hitter, Wildcats got 2 rbi by Del Ponte, and rbi’s from Chambers, Koria, Arriola, Buchanan and Kirker.
Auburn lost to Tennessee 2-1 (10). Tighter than a Southern cotton ball. Auburn led 1-0 in 4th; Cartwright hbp, scored on Wright rbi. Spigner tied the game,bottom 6th, with a solo HR. Renfroe struck out 2 of 3, top 10th. In bottom, Gieve, leading off, jacked the first pitch for a walkoff HR.
Kentucky 10, Florida 2 (6). UK led 7-0 after 4. Moultrie singled to start the game, Paculba was safe on the fiest of 2 UK errors; but, Bell answered the challenge, striking out the next three batters. In the bottom, Ault walked, scored with 2 out on Cervantes double. The Florida 3rd was a repeat; Paculba singled; Bruder reached on an error, but Bell struck out 2 of 3. Bottom 3rd, DeMartine slugged a 3-run homer. Ault followed suit with a 3-run homer in the 4th. Florida got on the board in the 5th, Bruder and Schutte homered. Bottom 6th: Dill 2-run single, DeMartine rbi.
Texas Tech 5, Oklahoma 0. Dennis limited the Sooners to 2 hits. Raiders led all game, starting with 3 runs bottom 1st; Blesoe 2-run double, James rbi single. Bottom 6th: pinch runner Clemmons scored on Richardson double. Gascoigne relieved Ricketts. Richardson scored on Gentsch single.
Alabama 7, South Carolina 0. While Dunne’2 hitter kept the Gamecocks away from the plate, the Tide took5 innings to break through with a run, Fenton walking and scoring on Traina single. After White relievved Borchardt to pitch the 6th, Hunt greeted her with a solo shot. After White gave up 2 walks, with 2 out, Broyles relieved, and walked the bases loaded. Laresen belted a grand slam. Top 7th, Hunt hit her second home run.
UCLA 6, Oregon State 2. The Beavers took 2-0 lead, top 2nd; Hall scoring on Kutz single, Beltran scoring on a bases-loaded passed ball. Bottom 3rd: DiSalvatore reached on an error; Harrison singled; Fox sac fly. Bases loaded, Lindvall singled, rbi; Schroeder doubled in 2 runs; Bates singled, rbi. Bruins loaded bases again in 4th; Harrison and Fox singled; Ydin walked; Snow singled, rbi. Might have gotten more but Lindvall hit into double play.
Fresno State 5, Hawaii 0 . Very strong game by Michelle Moses — no-hitter with 2 walks, After Moses struck out the side, top 1st, Bulldogs racked 3 runs. In the bottom, Ortiz and Moses singled; Ortiz scored on a throwing error; Moses scored on Stiglich single; Moore scored on Ortega single; Runge scored in 4th on Gilleland single. With 2 on in 5th, Rodriguez relieved in the circle; Pollard scored on the second of two illegal pitches. Fresno State is 20-8/4-0.
LSU 8 Arkansas 0. Power game by the Tigers, needed after a long layoff. Fico retired 10 of the last 11 batters, to complement a career best 5 rbi by Ashley Langoni, including a 3-run homer. Tammy Wray also belted a 3-run homer.
Arizona State 3, California 1. Trailing 1-0, Sun Devils scpred 3 runs in 6th, with 2 out, the last 2 runs scoring on a throwing error.
