#8 California upset by  #21 UCLA 6-5 (9)
WP Ally Carda.  LP Jolene Hendrson.  Cal converted 4 hits and an error at short into 4 runs, top 1st.  Cordes singled; forced at 2nd by Vonk; Ziegenhirt hbp;  J Henderson flied to center; D Henderson reached on a fielder’s choice  to short, Vonk scored on shortstop error. Jones walked, loading the bases; Kostreba 2-run single; Taylor singled to short, rbi.  Bates singled in the bottombut Henderson notched 2 Ks. Three fly balls put Cal out in the 2nd; Hall opened bottom half with a walk, but Bruins went down om a K and double play. D Henderson singled, Jones bunted for a hit. A force at 3rd and 4-3 double play ended the threat top 3rd.  Lindvall smacked the first pitch in the bottom half for a double, Bennett singled, Lindval scored, 4-1, Bennett out at 2nd. A K and fly ball defused the rally.  Top 4th: Tatlor reached on an error at 2nd but was forced; a K and a line drive ended the frame.  B4: LaRosa flied to right but Alvarez dropped the ball, them overthrew 2nd, and LaRosa scored on the double error.  4-2. Carda singled. Hall tagged the next pitch for a homer, 4-4. Sataraka singled, the sixth hit. Moeai sacrificed. Lindval fly to right. Bennett beat out an infield hit.  Runners at the corners, Goulder grounded to 3rd.  Tied 4-all, Cal had 3 errors, UCLA 2, six hits each.  T5: 2 out, Jones walked, scored on Kostreba’s double, 5-4.  B5: Nada.  T6: Carda relieved McDuffie. Ywo out, Vonk reached on an error by Hall, now playing 1st. Carda struck out Ziegenhirt, her second K. B 6: UCLA down in order; Henderson 7 K. T7. (1:20am in the East). J Henderson hbp; D Henderson fanned; Jones grounded to 2nd; Kostreba fanned, Carda’s fourth.  B7: Lindvall singled past 1st.  Bennett popped. Goulder became Henderson’s eighth victim. Bates, a fearsome home run hitter, walked. LaRosa, om a 2-2 count, singled in the tying run.  Carda popped to short.  On to the 8th, 1:45 am in the East.  T8: An illegal pitch called on Carda. Alvarez whiffed; Taykor out 6-3, Cordes walked; Vonk struck out, six for Carda. B8: Hall out 6-3.  Satarak flied to left. Moeai hit a two-out  double inside the left field line.Duran in to run.  Lindvall singled to left, but the throw from Taylor nailed Duran at home.  On to the 9th.  (Some marriages don’t last this long)  T9: Ziegenhirt fanned. J Henderson grounded out. D Henderson worled a full count and walked. Jones flied to right.  B9: Bennett,  the #9 hitter,  singled to left.  Goulder up, Bennett advanced on a passed ball, Goulder walked.  Bates up, no outs, forced Goulder at 2nd, LaRosa was given a pass, loading the bases with one out.  Carda grounded to short, but the throw from Cordes to home was in the dirt, and the winning run scored. 235am ET.
