4-15-10 April 15 Update

Heidi Pizer, LSU
Heidi Pizer knocked a pair of home runs for her first career Tiger hits and added three RBIs to lift the No. 15 LSU softball team to a 15-2 triumph over Nicholls Wednesday at the Colonel Softball Complex. “What a great day for Heidi Pizer and the Tigers,” head coach Yvette Girouard said. “We had an injury to Lauren Houston before the game which forced Jessica Mouse to come in from third base and catch. Heidi made the most of her opportunity, made great defensive plays and came up with two huge home runs. She always asks our hitting coach James DeFeo to stay after practice and her hard work has paid off for her.”  Pizer connected for the first of her two long balls to break a 1-1 tie in the second inning and followed with a two-run shot during the fifth inning.

Christine Lux, Notre Dame

Christine Lux posted her third career two-home run output Wednesday at Melissa Cook Stadium to lead No. 24 Notre Dame to a 3-2 win over visiting Georgetown, capping off a BIG EAST Conference doubleheader sweep. Notre Dame won the opener behind Jody Valdivia’s complete-game shutout, 5-0.

Emily Humpal, UTSA

Junior Emily Humpal (9-12) earned her second victory of the day, as UTSA swept Houston Baptist, striking out three and surrendering just two hits in a pair of scoreless frames in relief of sophomore starter Morgan Luksa, who struck out three and allowed one earned run on seven hits in five panels.

Feeling Behind.  Larry King has filed for his eighth divorce, at age 76, accused of infidelity.  I’m two years younger, only been married twice, but I’ve got better taste in women, experientially acquired.  My father warned me about hard-eyed blondes like Larry’s latest.  Had a girlfriend, international TV reporter, who had a drinking problem; could put a Dublin pub crowd to shame; set fire to my house in Georgetown.

Sad to hear that Butler’s Gordon Hayward and Duke’s Kyle Singler are contemplating the NBA draft.  They were main players in one of the most exciting NCAA Finals of all time, and would surely be catalysts in propelling their schools back to the Final Four.  But, their stock has peaked in value!
