GAME NOTES

Alabama 8, Georgia 3.  WP Jackie Traina.  LP Morgan Montemayor. The Tide outhit the Bulldogs 12 to 5- including homers by Branham, Locke and Lunceford. Georgia’s Sito and Wilson also went yard, but the Dawgs made 2 errors.  Down 3-2 after 3, Bama took the lead in the 4th on Conley’s 2-run single.

Oregon State 4, Washington 3.  WP Tina Andreana.  LP Kaitlin Inglesby.  S Paige Hall.  The Cardinal had a 3-1 lead going into the bottom of the 6th when the Beavers racked 3 runs.  Bases loaded, UW 2nd, Williams scored on Wright sac fly.  The Huskies added 2 in the 3rd.  Bottom 3rd: Bouska singled, scored 4 batters later on Beltran groundout.  Guzy began the decisive Beavers 6th with a walk.  Beltran reached on an error, one of four by the Huskies.  Pinch runner Bundy scored on an error at 2nd.  Cavestany reached on an error.  Brenner grounded out, rbi. Balayola scored on the fourth error, by the catcher. Three runs on no hits; 2 left on.  Huskies down in order in the 7th.

Auburn 3, Arkansas 2 (8).  Tied 2-2 in regulation, the Tigers loaded the bases in the bottom 8th; Schultze scoring on Stephens single.

Tennessee 8, South Carolina 0 (5). WP Ellen Renfroe 3H. The Vols won their 11th in a row Davin hit 2 homers.  The Vols improved to 38-9/17-6.  South Carolina falls to 23-24/3-17.

LSU 4, Ole Miss 0.  LSU rode the arm of Rachele Fico’s 3-hiter to advance to 31-14, 12-6 in the SEC.  Fico , now 15-6, had 7 Ks, and needs 17 to reach the 500 K mark..  Langoni, Russell, Santos and Wray had rbi’s.

Oklahoma 2, Missouri 1.  WP Keilani Ricketts.  LP Chelsea Thomas.  This game was what old-timers would call a barn-burner; the two pitchers put all they had into the game.  Ricketts 6H, 12 K, 1 HR.  Thomas 8 H, 15K, 6 BB.  OU broke the string of zeros in the bottom of the 5th, Vest scoring on a single by Martinez.  Fleming knotted the score top 6th with a home run.  The stalemate continued to the bottom of the 10th.  Two out, Ricketts was given an intentional pass.  Sampson singled; Casey drove in the winning run with a single to center.

UCLA 5, Utah 0.  WP Jessica Hall.  LP Mariah Ramirez.  Hall limited the Utes to 2 hits, striking out 11.  Tiumalu homered bottom 3rd for the first Bruin score.  Camuso hit a one-out homer in the 5th.  Harrison singled with one out in the 6th; Bates walked; Yudin jacked a 3-run home run.  UCLA is 31-12/7-6.  Utah is 23-19/0-13.

Texas 3, Oklahoma State 2.  WP Rachel Fox.  LP Kat Espinosa.  S Blaire Luna.  DelaCruz singled, scored 2 batters later on Davis single.  The Horns responded with 3 runs bottom 3rd.  One out, Washington walked, stole 2nd, advanced to 3rd on a catcher error.  Bennett hbp, stole 2nd.  Craig walked, filling the bases.  Two runs scored on Taylor’s single up the middle.  Scott doubled in the third run.  Top 5th: Davis singled to center; one out, Brown doubled.  Davis scored on Ward’s single — Texas put ace Luna in the circle to end the threat, stranding two.    The Cowgirls left 2 more on in the 6th; Ward doubled in the 7th but was left.  Texas 36-6/10-4.  OSU 22-17/5-7.

Arizona State 11, Stanford 9.  Game had the whole enchilada — 20 runs, 12 hits for ASU, 11 for Stanford, 2 errors each — and a big comeback by the Sun Devils who racked 8 runs in the 5th.  They then withstood a 3-run rally by Stanford in the 7th. The Cardinal led 6-1 after four, all six runs off ASU starter Dallas Escobedo, the last 3 off Mackenzie Popescue.  As usual, Teagan Gerhart went the distance for Stanford.  The Cardinal scored 4 runs in top 3rd on a grand slam by Rich.  In the bottom, Haro scored on a Boyd single.  The Cardinal added 2 runs in the 4th on a fielding error at 2nd.  Popescue relieved Escobedo to pitch the 5th.  In the bottom, Boyd walked, Johnson singled; both advanced on an error.  Two out, Steele walked; Freeman jacked a grand slam. Parlich and Haro singled; Afusia walked; Boyd capped the inning with a grand slam.  ASU now led 9-3, before adding a run in the 6th; Lockwood homered.  Rich opened the Cardinal 7th with a double; Burns singled; Roulund lined into a double play.  Rich scored on Becerra’s single.  Miller walked; Winter and White hit rbi singles, but pinch runner Schmidt was thrown out at 3rd – 8-3-5.

Fresno State 1, New Mexico State 0.  Second straight one-hit shutout for Michelle Moses.
