Another extra-ionning match between these Big 12 super powers.  Bottom 1st: Shuilts reached on error at short; Ricketts Walked; Casey singled in pinch runner Parsons, 1-0.  Chamberlain opened the OU 3rd with a home run.  Top 6th: the Tigers tied when Marston walked, Fleming hit a 2-run homer off starter Michelle Gascoigne.  Ricketts relieved.  Top 8th: Sykes and Marston walked; one out, Roth singled, rbi; Marston scored on Hudson sac fly.  The Tigers led 4-2.  OU went down in order in both the 7th and 8th.  Oklahoma 37-7/12-4.  Missouri 34-9/11-6.  Chamberlain’s home run was her 20th, tying the Sooner record.

Alabama 6, Georgia 4.  WP Amanda Locke 2HR.  LP Erin Arevalo. S Jackie Traina.  Bama has won 7 straight series over Georgia. a game which saw 7 runs scored in the 7th.  The Tide took the lead in top 3rd on Locke’s 2-run homer.  Swafford went yard for the Dawgs in the 5th.  Top 7th: Iamurri singled but was forced by Braud. Fenton grounded out to 3rd.  Braud scored on Locke’s single.  Braud homered.  (4 runs were scored but Gametracker recorded just two)  Bottom 7th, Locke in the circle.  Swafford single, but was forced by Sito.  Two out, Wilson doubled, rbi.  Sandberg jacked a 2-run homer.  Traina relieved Locke; Razey lined out.  Bama 42-4.  Georgia 32-12.

 Oklahoma State 3, Texas 0.  WP Simone Freeman.  LP Kim Bruins.  S Kat Espinosa.  The Longhorns managed just 5 hits off the two Cowgirl pitchers, stranding 11 runners.  OSU scored top 1st – Davis scored on Ward’s sac fly — then held off the Texans until the 6th when the Cowgirls racked 2 more runs.  Garcia and Graham singled; DelaCruz hit an infield singled to the pitcher, loading the bases.  Garcia scored on Diffendaffer’s sac fly.  Graham scored on Morrison’s single to the pitcher.  Texas got 2 walks bottom 6th; Espinosa relieved Freeman and got the third out.  Bottom 7th: Washington hbp; Bennett doubled; both stranded.  Texas 36-7/10-5.  OSU 23-17/6-7.

Washington 7, Oregon State 6 (9).  WP Bryana Walker.  LP Marina Demore.  Each team used 3 pitchers.  The Beavers led 6-4 after three.  Top 1st: Hayward, Williams singled, Hayward scoring on Inglesby sac fly.   The Beavers scored 3 in the bottom; Santana walked, Gilmore singled, Guzzy walked, bases loaded, no outs.  Santana scored on Beltran’s groundout; two out, Kutz drove in 2 runs.  Huskies tied with 2 runs top 2nd on Wright’s 2-run homer.  Beavers broke tie with 3 runs in bottom on Gilmore’s 3-run shot.  Score stood 6-4 after Williams one-out homer in 3rd.  Huskies tied again on Fagaly’s 2-run homer in 6th.  Two out in the 9th, Williams blasted her second homer for a 7-6 lead.  Beavers had 2 on bottom 7th; Garcia walked, one out, Santana singed; but flied into double play, 7-2. Washington 36-10/7-9.  Oregon State is 28-15/5-8.

Minnesota 1, Michigan 0.  WP Sara Moulton.  LP Hayley Wagner.  Moulton gave up 2 hits; Wagner one hit but that was a two-out home run by Meyer bottom 3rd; Wagner struck out the other three batters that inning.  Wolverines attempted to rally in the 7th but stranded two runners.   Michigan 31-12/11-2.  Minnesota 27-15/6-7.  First game of double-header; Michigan lost second game 6-4.

North Carolina 3, Georgia Tech 2.  WP Lori Spingola.  LP Hope Rush.  Spingola yielded 2 homers — solo shots by Rudni and Pullem in the 6th.   After Tech stranded 2 top 3rd, the Tar Heels played small ball; Nece walked, sacrificed to 2nd by Green; with 2 out, Nece scored on Walker single.  Bottom 5th: Nece tripled, scored on Green’s sac fly.  The Tech homers tied the game in the 6th.  Bottom 7th: Nexe singled; one out, Wheeler walked; Elliott hit a game-ending single.  North Carolina 35-10.  Georgia Tech 31-19.

Virginia 1, Virginia Tech 0 (8).  WP Melanie Mitchell 2H.  LP Jasmin Harrell.  The Cavaliers finally ended the long string of zeros on the board with a run top 8th.  One out, Martinez hbp; Gina Cippoloni doubled to center, driving in the run.  The Hokies went down in order.  Virginia 20-21/6-10.  Virginia Tech 32-15/9-6.

Tennessee 4, South Carolina 2.  WP Ivy Renfroe.  LP Katelyn Howser.  S Ellen Renfroe.  Not a walk in the park for the Vols who 2-0 when they came to bat in top 6th.  The Vols scored 2 in the 6th and 2 in the 7th.  Garcia singled with two out, bottom 3rd; Lackey singled; Westfield doubled, rbi; Hathom singled, rbi.  The Gamecocks made that lead stand up until the Vols 6th.  One out, Lewis walked; Chevanne and Dotson singled, loading the bases.  Shipman singled in the two tying runs.  One out in the 7th, Baker and Andrews walked.  Tarango hbp, loading the bases again.  Two runs scored (but Gametracker doesn’t say how).  South Carolina rallied; one out, Westfall singled; Hathom hbp.  Ellen Renfroe relieved.  Hawkins grounded out; Jackson popped to short.  UT 38-9/17-6.  USC 23-24/3-17.  (UT advised later that Chavanne drove in the 2 runs in the 7th.)

Louisiana Lafayette 10, Florida Atlantic 2 (5).  The Ragin Cajuns swept FAU. In this game, Jordan Wallace held the Owls to 1 hit – a 2-run homer by Stovall in the 4th.  The Cajuns scored 5 runs on 3 hits bottom 3rd.  Smith scored on Myers rbi; Draheim belted a 3-run homer; Cherry followed with a solo.  Bottom 4th: the Cajuns scored 4 runs; Fernandez and Smith singled, both scored on Myers double.  Orgeron jacked a 2-run homer.  Louisiana-Lafayette 40-2.  FAU 13-31.

Florida 7, Florida International 1.  WP Hannah Rogers, 3H, 7K.  LP Shelby Graves.  Scoreless after four, Gators scored in bottom 5th.  Sami Fagan scored on Coyle’s double.  FIU tied with a run top 6th.  Gators scored 6 in bottom.  Gammel led with a home run.  Melina reached on an error; Fagan singled; FIU switched pitchers.  Moultrie walked; Medina scored on a wild pitch.  Fagan scored on Haeger’s groundout.  Two out, Demico homered.  Florida 41-5.  FIU 24-23.

UCLA 11, Utah 8.  WP Ally Carda.  LP Generra Nielson.  Bruins led 11-2 after four but couldn’t close out the prospective run-rule.  Botrom1st: Schroeder singled, LaRosa homered, 2-0.  Bottom 3rd: Snow singled, advanced on Schroeder bunt/error; LaRosa doubled, rbi; Harrison jacked a 3-run homer.  One out, Yudin and Fox walked; Amu relieved Nielson.  Runners advanced on a passed ball. Tiumalu singled, rbi.  Carda walked; 2 runs scored on Snow’s single.  Schroeder doubled, rbi.  Bruins 10-0.  Top 4th: 2 Utah runs scored on Holm’s single.  In the bottom, Harrison hit her second homer, 11-2.  Top 5th: Rodino relieved Carda and gave up 3 runs on Elliott’s homer.  In the 6th, Utah tagged Jessica Hall for 3 runs.  Holm singled, scored on an error.  Palauni singled in 2 runs but was out at 3rd trying to stretch Elliott’s single.  Sweet  hit a one-out single for Utah in the 7th but was stranded.  UCLA 32-12/8-6.  Utah 23-20/0-14.

LSU 2, Ole Miss 1.  WP Brittany Mack. Bottom 3rd: Andrews tripled; scored on Langoni’s sac fly.  The Rebels scored in the 4th, Hubbard on Parra’s rbi single.  LSU broke the tie in the 4th.  Falcon hit a leadoff single; pinch runner Boulet stole 2nd and 3rd.  The lead run scored on Kuhn’s groundout rbi.  A fitting conclusion; the game was a “Strikeout Ovarian Cancer” event; Kuhn’s mother is a 10-year survivor.

Oregon 1, Cal 0.  WP Jessica Moore. 4H. LP Valerie Arioto.  In the 6th, Howard singled; Takeda sacrificed; Cuico singled in the run.

Arizona State 5, Stanford 0.  Brilliant 1-hitter by Hillary Bach.  ASU racked 12 hits off Nyree White.  Two Sun Devil runs scored in 1st on Caoruscio single.  Bottom 2nd: Haro scored on Boyd’s rbi groundout; Johnson scored on another Caporuscio single.  Caporuscio opened the ASU 5th with a homer.
