Texas 2, UTSA 1 (8). The Horns won, but it was a struggle. Bottom 1st: Hoagland reached on an error; Washington walked, both advanced on Thom’s sacrificek Hoagland scored on Hooks groundout – a run on no hits and an error. Fox’s 13 Ks kept UTSA off the board until the 5th; Holmes singled, a pinch runner scored. Tied until bottom 8th; Thom led with a single, Hooks singled, both advanced on a sac bunt by Taylor; Thom scored the winning run on a fielder’s choice hit by Schmidt. Texas 42-4. UTSA, which outhit the Horns 7-6, is 25-24.
Stanford 6, UC-Davis 0. The Cardinal outhit the Aggies 11-2. Hassman drew a walk to start the game, scored on Hansen single. One out in the Cardinal 3rd, Hansen homered. Stanford, after 2 more walks, left bases loaded. Two on, one out in Cardinal 4th, no score. Stanford scored 3 top 5th.
Baylor 4, Texas State 1. Tight game, 4 hits by Baylor, 3 by Texas State, which scored its run top 2nd. Two out, Emery walked, and scored on Rother double. The Bears countered with two in the bottom; Leal walked, advanced on a wild pitch and groundout, scored on Hall single. Hall scored on Wilson’s sac fly. Walker scored on Leal single in the 3rd. After State knocked its third and last hit, top 5, Walker walked, Leal singled, Walker stole home on a double steal.
DePaul 4, Loyola 0. Blue Demons scored 2 in 3rd, 2 in 4th. In 3rd, Plese singled, scored on Verdun triple; Verdun scored on Dodd single. In 4th; Ynguez singled, scored on Braden triple; Braden scored on Morocco single.
BYU 2, Idaho State 0. Bottom 1st: Delahoussaye walked, Clayton singled with one out; Clayton was forced at 2nd; Fitu stole 2nd, the run scored on a throwing error by the shortstop. Affleck struck out 2 batters in 4 of the first 6 innings. Bottom 6th; Graham and Dugas singled; Graham scored on Robb’s groundout.
