The Red Raiders couldn’t solve Luna, but Tech pitchers shut out the Longhorns in all but two innings.  Bottom 2nd: after Luna struck out three of four batters in the top, Jackson led off the Texas half with a home run to left field.  UT stranded two.  After Legler singled top 3rd for one of two Tech hits, Texas racked three runs.  Bennett and Hooks walked; Brokeshoulder relieved Jacobs. The runners advanced on Taylor’s sac bunt; Johnson singled, rbi; Bases loaded, Feight lobbed a sac fly.  Chalk singled, rbi.  4-0.

Plourde had a no-hit bid broken in the 7th, a two-out double  by Ramos.  Plourde, who struck out the side in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th (around a walk),  and 6th,  fanned the other three batters in the 7th.  U Mass pounded 13 hits, including homers b y Williams, Bettencourt, and Libby.  UMass improved to 21-7, 6-0, while BC fell to 9-17, 0-6.

Another impressive outing for Childers, quietly amassing a 20-3 record, 0.6 ERA with 273 Ks.  USC-Upstate is now 25-7. They unleashed a 13-hit attack on the Gamecocks, scoring 3 runs top 1st.  Zaunder, Hall and Ohrlich rbi singles.  Brasil singled in a run, top 2nd.  Brasil and Chewning scored two more runs, with two out, top 6th.  South Carolina is now 10-27.

The Blue Demons broke a 2-2 tie, top 9th.  DePaul scored top 3rd when Voss scored on Heteniaks’s single.  NIU tied in the bottom, Sanches led with a solo homer.  The scenario repeated top 5th; Dodd led off for DePaul with a solo home run.  Sanchez hit her second home run in the bottom half.  Top 9th: Heteniak walked; Ashkar singled; with one out, Matthews doubled, 2 rbi.  NIU rallied; Norton and Sanchez singled; both advanced on Wulbecker’s fly to left.  Sheppard walked, loading the bases.  But, Colosimo lined out to short, and Matsui struck out swinging.  DePaul 18-12.  NIU 12-21.

The Aggies had 6 hits to 5, but one hit was Kliesing’s 3-run home run to right field, bottom 1st.  TAMU scored five that inning including Dumezich’s 2 run single.  SFA loaded the bases, top 5th, on singles by Jones and Brown, and a two-out walk by Arana, but no score.  The Aggies added two in the bottom half; May singled, Reynolds walked with one out; Covington relieved White; with two out, Reynolds and pinch runner Tovar advanced on an illegal pitch; Tovar scored on an illegal pitch, Reynolds went to 3rd; Reynolds scored on an illegal pitch.   TAMU 31-9.  SFA 20-9.

The Cardinal clocked 15 runs on 12 hits, bottom 1st.  Rbi’s by Hansen, Burns, Gerhart (double), 3-0 when Holmes relieved Waldusky.  Hassman 2-run single; Haber, Rich rbi singles, Araujo relieved Holmes; Koplitz rbi, Neill 2-run single; Gerhart grand slam. Stanford added two runs in 2nd; Hansen tripled, Rich slugged a 2-run homer.   Araujo had both UCD hits.  Stanford 28-5.  UC Davis 13-22.
