GAME NOTES

Tennessee 5,   Georgia 1. Both teams scored a run in 1st.  Vols scored when Chavanne opened game with single to 3rd, stole 2nd, scored on Dotson single to right. Dawgs answered with leadoff homer by Schlopy, the last run for Georgia despite 9 hits.  Tennessee scored a go-ahead run top 4th; Spigner doubled, pinch runner Hammond advanced on wild pitch; Gibson doubled rbi.  UT went long in the 6th; Gibson homered; Davin stroked a 2-run homer.    Both teams are 8-4 SEC, with another game today.

UCLA 5, Loyola Marymount 4. Bruins were coasting 3-0 into top 6th when LMU took lead with 4 runs. UCLA salvaged win with 2 runs bottom 7th.  Bruins scored in 1st on Bates 1-out triple, Harrison 2-out single.  UCLA 3rd, Bates, DiSalvatore, Harrison hit consecutive singles, but Bates out at home.  Run scored on Fox double.  Through 4 innings, starter Jessica Hall had held LMU to 1 hit; Macon relieved to pitch 5th.  Bruins upped score to 3-0in 5th on Bates leadoff homer.  LMU struck for 4 in 6th on Sarginson 2-out grand slam.  Bottom 7th: Schroeder ledoff with single.  Bates and DiSalvatore singled (rbi), Schroeder scored tying run.  Harrison given a pass.  Bases loaded, Fox singled in winning run.

Missouri 7, Evansville 2. Tigers up 2-0, top 1st; Marston single, Hudson homer.  Aces took one back in bottom, Stahlhut homered.  In Mizzou 3rd, Simmons singled, scored on Burkhart rbi.  Hudson jacked a 2-run homer, her second of the game.  Burkhart, Marston led 4th with singles; no outs; stranded. Aces scored again in bottom, Betancur opened with homer.  Top 5th, while Tigers enjoyed 13-6 hitting advantage, runs came sparingly.  Top 5th, Ruggeberg singled, scored on Muller’s 2-out single.  Pinch hitter Sykes led the Missouri 7th with a solo shot.

Oklahoma 12, Kansas 6.  Never close. OU led 8-0 when Jayhawks scored all six bottom 5th.  Jayhawks made 5 errors; Sooners 2.  OU 1st: Martinez scored with 2 out on Williams single.  Sooners unloaded for 5 runs in 3rd.  Shults and Williams walked; Ricketts pounded a 3-run homer.  Jones drove in Norris and Dobbs on an error at short.  OU scored twice in 4th, one run crossing when Ricketts drew bases-loaded walk.  After Ricketts was relieved, leading 8-0, Kansas scored 6 runs, 4 off Kirsten Allen,2 off Allee Allen. Ingle led with a double; Hile walked; Alsdorf rbi single; Montgomery singled, bases loaded.  Allee Allen into the circle.  Hull doubled in 2 runs; Vickers slammed a 3-run homer. Ricketts returned.  Oklahoma scored 4 top 6th.

Baylor 5, Texas Tech 1. Canion (11K) kept Tech off the boards until bottom 7th when Kenney led off with a solo HR.  Baylor scored top 1st; Shelton, Walker singled, Shelton scored on Leal sac fly.  Walker walked, scored on wild pitch in 3rd.  Holl walked to lead Baylor 4th; Talley relieved Ward.  Holl and Freeland scored unearned runs.  In Baylor 7th, Shelton singled, scored on Turk single.

Missouri 9,  Evansville 1 (5). During her 4 innings in the circle, Thomas yielded one hit; the Aces run in the 5th was scored off Lindsay Muller.  The Tigers roared loudly top 1st, scoring 5 runs.  Taylor walked, stole 2nd; Fleming homered.  With two out Schweisberge and Krebs hit rbi doubles.  Marston scored in the 2nd on Ruggeberg’s single; Hudson scored on a fielding error.  Missouri scored 2 top 5th on Poet’s double to reach run-rule.  The Aces scored off Muller when Alsip and Rahming hit consecutive doubles.

Tennessee 9, Georgia 4. A sweep for the 8th ranked Vols over the 2nd ranked Bulldogs.  Georgia wen up 2-0, bottom 1st; Goler singled, Hesson homered.  Top 2nd: Gibson singled, Burchell walked; Gibson scored on Davin single; Burchell scored tying run on Andrews’ sac fly.  Georgia reclaimed lead in the bottom on Sandburg homer. UT took lead to keep with 4-run 3rd, aoded by 2 errors and a walk.  Gibson singled in the tying run; Burchell jacked a 3-run homer.  The Dawgs got one back in the 5th; Goler scored on Wiggins single.  Vols loaded bases in the 6th; Gibson hit into double play but Grieve scored.  Andrews and Grive had rbi hits in the 7th.  Tennessee 31-9/9-4.  Georgia 32-8/8-5.

Texas 4, Texas A&M 3. Longhorns scored 2 runs bottom 7th to win.  Top 2nd: Garza homered for the Aggies.  Bottom: Schmidt singled, scored on Thom single.  Top 3rd: Walker, Villareal singled; Kliesing walked, loading bases; two out, Garza walked, rbi.  TAMU left bases loaded.  Bottom 5th: Bennett one-out triple; Taylor tripled, tie score.  Top 7th: Two on with walks; one out; Fox relieved Luna.  Liesing walked, loading bases.  Dumezich singled, rbi, 3-2 Aggies, who again left bases loaded.  Bottom 7th: Dumezich pitching for Aggies.  Bennett homered.Hooks walked; with one out, Schmidt reached on an error; pinch runner Ogle scored on wild pitch.

Baylor 10,  Texas Tech 3. A lot of hitting: 17 by Baylor, 11 by Tech.  Raiders scored bottom 1st, Bledsoe on Allen single.  Bears tied top 2nd, Robertson on Hall double.  Turk scored in Baylor 3rd on Leal double; Leal scored on Redfearn double.  Tech responded in bottom half with Bledsoe homer.  Hall and Allen singled; Repka relieved Paul; runners advanced on illegal pitch; James hit into fielder’s choice, Hall out at home.  Tech tied bottom 4th on Hamada single.  Baylor 5th: Turk, Redfearn singled; Hall 3-run homer.  Freeland singled, Kettler doubled, Freeland scored.  Talley relieved Merlich.  Baylor 6th: Leal opened with homer.  With 2 out, Freeland reached on error and Hosack hit 2-run homer.  10-3.

Oklahoma 13, Kansas 5. Sooners had 9 hits first game; this time they racked 20.  OU loaded bases top 1st; Dobbs singled in 2 runs.  Sooners loaded bases again in 2nd; Shults singled in a run.  OU had 3 runs, but left 5 standing on the sacks. Vickers homered for Kansas.   Dobbs led the 3rd with a solo shot, Clark relieved Martinez.  Oklahoma loaded bases again in 4th; Ricketts jacked a grand slam.  Dobbs drove in Shults in the 5th.  Kansas 5th: Hull hammered a 3-run homer.  9-4.  KU 6th: Hile homered, and Ricketts relieved Gascoigne.  The 4-run Sooner 7th began with consecutive singles by Ricketts, Dobbs, Jones, and Henson (2 rbi).  Martinez returned to the circle.  Nix singled, rbi.  Oklahoma is 31-10. Kansas 27-12.

Georgia Tech 6, Kennesaw State 1. Weseman leads Yellow Jackets with home run, double, 4 rbi. Bottom 2nd: Rudnik singled, Priebe doubled, Rudnik out at home 9-4-2.  Priebe scored on Sinclair single.  Tech scored in 3rd on Weseman 2-run homer.  Tech scored a run in 4th; Tarvin relieved Miexel.  Bottom 6th: Tech loaded bases, Weseman doubled in 2 runs.  Kennesaw scored top 7th on Swanson home run.
