SEC Tournament–Fayetteville, Ark.     Tournament Page  Rain Delay, KU up 1-0 in 7th

Game 1  #3 #18 LSU 2,  #6 Kentucky  1     ESPNU Kentucky eliminated
WP Rachele Fico (in relief).  LP Rachel Riley (in relief)
Absolutely one of the more dramatic endings in recent SEC history.  Last year, Molly Johnson home run knocked Georgia out.  Today, after a more than three hour rain delay, Kentucky was two strikes away from eliminating LSU 1-0, also on the strength of a Johnson home run top 4th.  LSU had survived Kentucky’s bid to expand its lead, two on in the 6th, but Fico relieved Cody Trahan (3H) and the Tigers escaped without damage when DeMartine hit into a 6-4-3 double play.  Bottom 7, Riley, who had relieved Chanda Bell — who had limited LSU to three hits — retired the first two Tigers, Russell and Mouse, on groundouts.  But, Falcon doubled down the right field line, Shaw came on to run.  Shortridge, an all-around star hitting better than .400, nailed her first of the season home run, a walkoff job which kept the Tiger season alive.

Game 2  #2 #5 Florida 9, #7 Auburn  1 (5)     ESPNU Auburn eliminated

Game 3  #5 Tennessee 6, # 4 Georgia 4    ESPNU Georgia eliminated (at 11:53pm)

The Dawgs outhit the Vols 9-6 but UT had the muscle it needed.  Top 1st: Dotson walked with one out, stole 2nd; Grieve singled, Spigner singled, scoring Dotson, Grieve scored on error.  Georgia quickly answered with  3 in the bottom, chasing starter Cat Hosfield.  Schlopy was hbp, Wiggins doubled, Schlopy scored on wild pitch.  Wiggins scored on Goler sac fly.  With two out, Hasson homered.  3-2.  The Vols reclaimed the lead for good top 2nd on Chavanne’s 2-run homer.  Grieve doubled and scored on Gibson’s groundout in the 3rd.  Chavanne and Dotson walked in the 4th, advanced on a wild pitch, and Chavanne scored on double steal.  6-3.  She was the Vols last base runner in this game, but Renfro kept the Dawgs in check.  Georgia stranded a runner in each of the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings.  Bottom 7th: After Pauly flied out, Schlopy homered.  Wiggins doubled but Goler ground out and Razey struck out swinging.

Game 4  #1 #3 Alabama 9, #8 Arkansas  0 (5)     ESPNU  Arkansas eliminated
WP Kelsi Dunne 2H, 8K  LP Hope McLemore
SPY stopped watching at 2am, the 4th inning had just ended, Arkansas had runners at 2nd and 3rd but two batters looked at 3rd strikes; it was just a question of time. Bama was up 2-0 and that lead if anything would grow larger.   Missed Whitney Larsen’s grand slam.
