GAME NOTES
Gametracker, softballscoresnow, UCS, college web sites, NFCA
Western Michigan 9, Central Michigan 1 (5).  Western Michigan scored 8 runs in 2nd, including grands slam by Rousseau, and a 3-run shot by Bendewald. Houston hit a solo homer in the 5th to seal the run-rule.
Florida State 4, North Carolina 1.  There was a time under Joanne Graf when the Seminoles dominated the ACC; now thanks to Hamilton’s 3-hitter and timely hitting, Florida State is back on top, after a tournament in which Georgia Tech was expected to win.  Ahrberg led the 2nd with a home run.  Bullock singled, and, after a sacrifice, scored on Senas’ double.  Spingola’s 7Ks and good defense prevented further scoring until the 6th.  With one out in the bottom, Hamilton singled, and Senas homered.  The Tar Heels, who had just 2 hits in 6 innings, attempted a rally in the 7th.  First up, Foulks walked, Williams in to run. One out, McKinney was hbp, Elliott in to run.  Robinson doubled, Williams scored.  Hamilton struck out Scarboro and Geen to end the game.  FSU 30-26.  UNC 34-21.
Baylor 2, Texas 1.  Texas and Missouri finished 1-2 in the Big 12, but Baylor, Texas A&M and Oklahoma showed all season they were capable of beating anyone else in the club house.  The Longhorns, who lost just four conference games, scored a run bottom 1st.  Baylor stranded 2 in the top; now, one out, Washington walked, scored on Thom’s double.  The Bears took the lead, top 4th.  One out, Hall reached on an error in right field.  Redfearn singled; Hosack reached on an error at short, pinch runner Robertson scored. Texas previously earned NCAA bid.  Freeland drove in Redfearn.  Texas 45-8/14-4.  Baylor 40-12/11-7.
Nebraska 3, Oklahoma State 1.  More than just the end of a season (Nebraska 39-12; OSU 27-17/8-10), these nationally-ranked Big 12 teams turned a page; Nebraska is leaving the conference (a departure which will have serious implications for Big 12 football).  Brechtel opened the Husker scoring with a homer in the 1st.   The Huskers loaded the bases in the 2nd; Haget socked a 2-run single to center.  Sarah Odom relieved Freeman, 2 on, 1 out, but she put out the fire.  The Cowgirls scored in the 4th; A lead off double and sac bunt put Hamilton on 3rd; Hmilton scored on an error at short.  Hagrmann allowed just one base runner over the three final innings..
