ACC Championship–Blacksburg, Va.     Chance of Scattered Thundedrstorms, 78

Game 7  Championship  1:00 PM

#1 #7 Georgia Tech 8, #3 #24 Florida State 4  Georgia Tech earns automatic NCAA berth
WP Hope Rush.   LP Sarah Hamilton
Until the 6th inning, the defending champion Yellow Jackets had not given up a run in the ACC Championship games.  Indeed, if the mercy rule were in effect (it is not in championship games), the final game would have ended at five, with Tech winning 8-0.  But the Seminoles rallied for four runs.  The reach for the trophy and automatic NCAA bid began in the 2nd.  With one out, Bear walked, with two out, Yee, the leading home run hitter in the country, was intentionally walked.  Kuzma homered, 3-0.  Tech 3rd: Rush singled, Dike was hbp (she was hit three times today).  Terese Gober relieved Hamilton.  Jordan singled, rbi, and advanced on a wild pitch; Tech scored two more to lead 6-0.  Eppinger opened the Tech 5th with a single,  Dike was hit agazin, Jordan doubled, rbi.  With two out, Yee was walked again, loading the bases.  A final run scored (Gametracker really sucks!),, 8-0.  After Tech stranded two, top 6th, the Seminoles rallied for four runs.  On a 3-2 count, Wynn homered inside the right field foul pole.  Brown and Jackson singled; Ahrberg doubled, rbi.  Lapicki doubled in two runs, and the FSU dugout erupted in cheers.  But Haddad grounded into a double play, the defensive gem of the game 5-3-5.   Top 7th: Yee and Kuzma singled; Hamilton returned to the Seminole circle and got the two outs.  Bottom 7th: Kristen Adkins, who like Rush is a starting-quality pitcher and hard hitter, struck out Borden, Bullock and Wynn ground out.
