NCAA REGIONAL FINALS
May 20 2012
Unusual situation: while all the pre-tournament seeds, except UCLA, are still in contention, Tennessee, Florida, Texas and California, which has been ranked #1 in both national polls for many weeks, have to win two games today to advance to Super Regionals. Oregon has already qualified for SR where it will face the winner of the Austin regional.
Controversy continues over Michigan’s extra inning defeat of Louisville. ESPN began its coverage of today’s game replaying the controversial call at 3rd. Lane appears to be out at 3rd but the umpire called her safe; instead of ending the inning, Lane then scored the winning run. Critics notwithstanding, an out would have extended the tie game, with no assurances Louisville would have scored. The issue was mooted Sunday when Michigan won 4-0 to advance to Super Regionals.
Sincere apologies. Until 630, Spy had posted not just the scores but recaps of every game. A computer glitch erased hours of work so what is in front of you now is a recapture effort.
