Florida 4, Tennessee 3. Gators win on Coyle’s lead-off, walk-off homer bottom 7th. Florida scored bottom 3rd; Fagan led with double; one out, Moultrioe singled up middle, rbi. Vols took lead in 5th with 3 runs off Gator starter Stephanie Brombacher. Spigner led with a walk; Lewis in to run;Burchell singled, Davin sacrificed to advance both runners; Two out, Andrews singled in both runs. Rogers relieved Brombacher. Florida tied in bottom half; Coyle walked; Gammel hit one-out single; runners advanced on Moultrie groundout; Paculba walked; Coyle scored on a wild pitch; Gammel scored on a wild pitch. Vols left 2 on in 6th. Top 7th: Shipman grounded out, Andrews and Chavanne struck out. Coyle homered on a 1-2 count. Florida 45-8/19-7. UT 44-8/20-6. The weekend series will affect seeding for next week’s SEC tournament.
Mississippi State 8, Georgia 6. Once again, the MSU Bulldogs have defeated a higher-ranking SEC team. The upset took root top 2nd; Nesbit singled, Lenahan homered. After 2 Ks, Bell reached on an error, the first of four by the Dawgs, Gates singled, Bainbridge and Shape hit rbi singles, 4-0. Two out in the bottom, Georgia scored twice, Hubbard rbi double, Trout rbi single. Bell singled and scored with 2 out in the 4th on Smith’s double. Raines doubled and scored in the MSU 5th on an error. Montemayor relieved Arevalo. Down 6-2, Georgia rallied for 3 runs, bottom 5th. Pauly singled, Schlopy walked, both advanced with one out on a wild pitch, Goler jacked a 3-run homer. Becker relieved Flesher. Top 7th, Raines doubled, rbi, and scored on an error. Geprgoa 7th: Schlopy hbp; Wiggins doubled, rbi; Goler flied into 7-4 double play; Hesson grounded out. Georgia 42-10/15-9. MSU 24-29/10-16.
Alabama 8, Mississippi 0 (5). Dunne , who struck out 9, was a pitch short of a perfect game: she hit one batter. Bama took control top 1st: Braud walked, stole 2nd; Larsen one-out single; Locke belted 3-run homer;another run, 4-0. Bama 3rd: Lunceford walked, stole 2nd, Hunt rbi single. Taking advantage of Ole Miss errors, the Tide scored 3 runs top 5th; Ole Miss had no answers in bottom. Alabama 42-7/16-6. Mississippi 14-36/3-20.
California 9, Oregon State 0 (6). Six of the 9 Cal Starters scored at least one run. The Bears scored 4 runs in the 3rd, after loading baases. Williams rbi single; Ziegenhirt 2 rbi on fielder’s choice; Ziegenhirt jacked a 2-run homer in the 3-run 5th. Cal sacored the final 2 runs in the 6th; Williams an rbi double, Henderson an rbi sac fly. California 35-9. Oregon State 18-23.
Auburn 5, Kentucky 3 (8). Aukburn scored top 1st; Cartwright doubled with one out, scored on Guzman single. Top 3rd: Stangl singled, scored on an error. The Wildcats took the lead in the 4th; Dill singled, scored on Cervantes single; Ril;ey belted a 2-run homer. Aubutrn tied top 5th; Stangl singled, scored with one out on Cartwright single. Top 8th, two out; Smiley singled; Eisterhold homered. Kentucky rallied; Weaver singled, Yocke walked; but Dill struck out and Yocke was forced at 2nd by Aull. Cervantes fouled out. Kentucky 35-11/13-7. Auburn 37-15/14-12.
Fresno State 7, Nevada 3. Bulldogs led 7-0 aftewr 4, then withstood late rally. Bottom 1st: After Moses faned 2 of 3 first Nevada batter, FSU scored when Gilleland tallied on Moses sac fly. FSU 3rd: Ortiz, Gilleland, Ortega singled consecutively, Ortega rbi; after double steal and an out, Gilleland scored on Stiglich sac bunt. A quartet of Bulldogs scored in the 4th. After Ortiz rbi single, Bulldogs loaded bases; no outs; Ortega 2-run single; Moses walked, reloading the bases; Stiglich hit into fielder’s choice, forcing Gilleland out at home; Moore sac fly, 7-0. Fresno State 30-14/14-5. Nevada 12-33/3-16.
BYU 8, New Mexico 3. BYU scored 6 runs on 5 hits in 2nd; Ditu 2-run single; Willard 2 run double. In 4th, Garcia hit 2-run homer for New Mexico. BYU is 35-15, New Mexico 18-23.
Arizona State vs Washington: Rain forced suspension of Game 1, with score tied 4-4 in 5th. Escobedo vs Ingelsby.
LSU 3, South Carolina 2. The Gamecocks had the tying run on 2nd, no outs, but relieved Rachele Fico got the three outs to save the 10th consecutive win for the Tigers, who improved to 36-15/17-9. The Tigers are no in 4thm place, SEC, after Georgia and Kentucky lost on Friday. Fico opened her second save of the season with an 11-pitch strikeout of Milks. A pop-up and groundout ended the game. The Tigers scored 2 runs in the 1st on Young’s home run, following Heyward’s walk. A Heyward walk also led to the third LSU run; Heyward scored on Langoni’s rbi single. South Carolina (26-28/6-20) scored single runs in the 5th (Mendes rbi single) and 6th (Hathorn sac fly).
Arizona 5, UCLA 1. The major story of this game: Kenzi Fowler is back — and throwing strikes for the Wildcats — 11Ks to go with 3 hits. Fowler gave upo a one-out home run to Fox, bottom 1st. Arizona took the lead top 3rd on DelPonte’s 3-run homer. The Wildcats scored twice in the 4th; one out, Lastrapes and Schutrzler walked; DelPonte was hbp, loading the bases. Chambers hit into a fielder’s choice, Lastrapes out at home; Arriola drew an rbi walk; Hall relieved Kerr, and Arizona scored its fifth run. Bottom 7th: Fowler struck out the first two batters; a line out ended the game. This was a strong performance by Fowler, who had been sidelined after suffering a concussion — a line drive to the head in the dugout. — and strongly imrpoves Arizona’s prospects fore the NCAA tournament.
Stanford 4, Oregon 1. Oregon scored, bottom 4th. Pappas walked with one out; Fulava tripled. Despite 3 errors by the Ducks in the first four innings, the Cardinal didn’t score until top 6th. The last 2 of 5 errors hurt the Ducks. One out, Miller reached on an error; two out, Van Zandt reached on an error; pinch runner Pura scored the tying run. Becerra singled, rbi. Top 7th; Hansen singled; one out, Prong homered. Stanford 37-11/9-7. Oregon 36-13/7-9.
