The WCWS is a traditional rite of passage in NCAA softball.  Another hallmark of the end of the season is the transition.  Some college coaches have retired, notably Margie Wright, the much-heralded coach at Fresno State.  We hear there are a number of coaches interested in that post.  A number of coaches were notified when their schedule ended that their contracts would not be renewed.  The transition  typically results in some of the younger head coaches and assistant coaches moving up.  Spy doesn’t indulge in rumor, but we know that selection may be close for at least two positions.
