Corona Angels Tyson 1, Vienna Stars Rollins 0
Randy Dominguez won the game with a homer off Maryland State champion Jess Cummings. We were very impressed with Angels shortstop Siena Sandoval’s sidearm throws.
NJ Intensity Premiers KOD 3, Team Mizuno Stith 1
Tori Finucaine pitched for Intensity; Arianna Jarvis. Score tied 1-1, after a solo shot by Lindsay Montemarano, Intensity won on a 2-run shot Matie Marino.
Team Mizuno Stith 6, FL Gainesville Gold Dunn 2
Solid pitching effort for Mizuno by Andie Formby, supported by a homer by Taylor Swearingen. Two runs scored on an error. Alesha Ocasio pitched for Gainesville.
Team Mizuno Stith 3, Birmingham Thunderbolts 2
Kaylee Carlson pitched for Mizuno. Madison Moore started for the Bolts; gave up a homer by Sashell Palacios, and was relieved by Bailey Murphy, an impressive lefty (2016).
Atlanta Vipers Gold 2, Newtown Rock Garvey 0
Bases-loaded walks decided this game.
Carolina Elite Genovese 5, RI Thunder Lotti 4
Thunder manufacutured 4 runs and led 4-0, but gave away 4 runs on hbp, error, failed defensive play. Gianna Hathaway homered in the 2nd; Thunder loaded the bases an inning later; Nicole Lundstrom cleared the bases with a deep single. Thunder self-destructed in the 3rd; the tiebreaker on an infield hit by Carli Hurtado.
NJ East Coast Elite 7, Tulsa Shootout 1
An endurance test which waited through rain and lightning delays to end about 11pm. Shootout loaded the bases in the 1st, notched a run, but the Elitehalted the momentum with a double play. Elitebroke a 1-1 tie on anrbi singleto give the win to Amanda Gatt.
So Cal Strikkers 3, NC Lady Lightning Corn 1
There was a time when Susie Parra, Lisa Fernandez fought some epic battles between Arizona and UCLA; now Suzie coaches the Strikkers. Both of these teams have high potential. Bailey Conner was the winning pitcher. Strikkers scored when Maddy Graham singled, and scored on a double by Jamie Gilbert. Lightning tied the score in the 2nd. In the 4th, with two out, Mackenzie Grimes jacked an awesome homer, followed immediately by an equally awesome homer by Jamie Gilbert. Bailey Conner pitched the win.
NJ Intensity Premier 5, So Cal Strikkers 0
The big bats and Conner’s curves were of no avail against the Intensity. Bailey Bigler scored top 1st; and drove in another run in the 3rd. Mackenzie Moler drove in 2 runs and Katie Marino scored the final run on an error by the catcher. Jordan Weed pitched for Intensity. (Several teams suffered behind the plate).
NJ Intensity Premier KOD 3, Team Mizuno Megee 0
Tori Finucaine pitched for Intensity against the 16U Mizuno. The game was decided by a 3-run homer.
NC Lady Lightning Miken Corn 2, CO Stars Burns 1
Thed Stars took an early lead 1-0 behind Kenya Lindstrom, butLightning rallied to tie, and ent ahead on Regan Green’s rbi. Megan Mills and Emily Demonte shared pitching duties.
Birmingham Thunderbolts 10, Corona Angels Tyson 2
Bailey Murphy got the win, a 2016 lefty. Caroline Seitz belted a 3-run shot; Courtney Shea provided the final margin with a 2-run homer..
Colorado Stars 7, Corona Angels Tyson 2
Rebeckah Mintz nailed the win. One of the best teams Dan Burns has brought East in years. Kelsey Biaggi homered for the Stars who led 5-0 before the Angels rallied for a run on a double by Kinsley Washington. The Angels were inconsistent, reflecting Tyson’s decision to leave committed players at home.

Mizuno led throughout to give Kaylee Carlson the win.
Lady Lightning Miken Corn 2, Vienna Stars Rollins 1
Impressive outing by both young squads. Lightning scored late on a single as time expired; a lookback would have resulted in a tie. The Stars primarily relied on Maryland star Jessica Cummings but also got effective work in other games from Taylor Neuhart.
Birmingham Thunderbolts 7, Team Mizuno Stith 4
The Bolts impressed throughout the tournament and got solid performances in several games from pitcher Madison Moore, an uncommitted 2015., who was staked to a 3-0 lead on a homer by Caroline Seitz. Mizuno narrowed the score to 3-2, and tied on a double, but elected to pitch to Seitz in late innings, who jacked another 3-run homer. Both teams later added single runs. Madison Moore pitched the victory.
