Alabama’s Charlotte Morgan, the 2010 Southeastern Conference player of the year, has been selected as the Lowe’s Senior Class award winner for softball.

The award, chosen by a nationwide vote of Division I softball coaches, national media and fans, is awarded annally to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in Division I.  The announcement was made today by Lowe’s at the Women’s College World Series.

Morgan is one of the most decorated student-athletes in Alabama softball history.  She has led the team in runs batted in and owns school and conference recordsw for RBI.  She led Alabama to the NCAA Division I softball championship super regionals this season.  The award recognizes her excellence off the field as well.  Morgan is a criminal justice major and carri4es a 3.8 overall GPA.  She has interned with the police department throughout her collegiate career.


ISF has announced that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez will attend the opening ceremonies of the XII World Championships.

Work is being completed on the two stadiums and ISF is anticipating capacity crowds;.  La Rinconada will host 6,712 people in bleachers, side stands, preferential stands, areas for people with disabilities and the media), while Las Mayas field will have capacity for 7,065 people.

Travel advisories are warning of the disparity between the official exchange rate oaf about 2.5/1 and the black market rate of more than 8/1.  Be sure your credit card receipts are denominated in dollars.  Avoid the black market for dollars; the police have arrested several money exchange operators.
