Game 10: California 6, Oregon 3
- In the final elimination game of the day, California defeated Oregon 6-3.
- Top-seeded Cal advanced to Sunday’s WCWS semifinals round, joining No. 2 seed Alabama, No. 3 seed Arizona State and No. 4 Oklahoma. This marks the first year that each of the top four seeds advanced to the semifinals (the national seeding system began in 2005).
- Cal improved to 58-6 overall this season and to 21-21 all-time in the WCWS.
- Cal had two home runs tonight, a three-run blast by Jace Williams in the first inning and a solo shot by Victoria Jones in the fourth inning. Williams’ homer was her eighth of the season while Jones’ was her third this year.
- Cal has belted a total of six home runs in four games against Oregon this season (one on April 20 and three on April 22).
- Cal improved to 31-0 this year when scoring in the first inning, to 38-0 when scoring six or more runs and to 22-0 when hitting two or more home runs.
- Cal has scored five or more runs in seven of its 10 games during the 2012 NCAA tournament.
- Cal junior pitcher Jolene Henderson improved to 38-3 on the year with the complete-game victory. She surrendered three runs (all earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out nine.
- Oregon finished the season at 45-18 overall and dropped to 2-4 all-time in the WCWS. Its 45 wins this year represent the second most in school history.
- Oregon’s Samantha Pappas hit a home run in the third inning to tie her single-season best of 11 homers (also hit 11 in 2010). Pappas is tied for 11th on Oregon’s single-season home runs list and ranks seventh in school history with 30 career homers.
- Pappas’ home run was her second of the day. She also hit a solo homer against Tennessee in Game 8.
