Team USA 3, Team Canada 1
Top 1st: Angela Tincher gave up a double to Cailin Lever and walked Sheena Lawrick but escaped with no runs. In the bottom, Team USA racked 3 hits and two runs off Jenna Caira. Chelsea Bramlett grounded out but Brittany Lastrapes reached on a third strike passed ball, and advanced on Alissa Haber’s sac bunt. Kaitlin Cochran doubled in Lastrapes and scored the second run on Megan Langenfeld’s single. Ashley Charters singled and Jenae Leles walked to load the bases, but Ashley Hansen flied out to left.
Tincher gave up a walk in the 2nd and a single to Jennifer Yee in the 3rd, no damage. Team USA went down in order in the 2nd and 3rd.
Team Canada threatened in the 4th when Jennifer Salling led off with a single but Kaleigh Rafter flied out and Tincher struck out Heather Ebert and Evelyne Pare on six pitches. In the bottom, Charters grounded to 3rd but Leles and Hansen singled. Molly Johnson in to run for Leles. Lsauren Schutzler singled, loading the bases again. Bramlett grounded to short, but Johnson scored. Valerie Arioto flied out.
Team Canada went down in order in the 5th; Tincher notched her sixth K. After Ashley Lanz relieved, Team USA stranded two runners; Cochran reached on an error, Langenfeld walked.
Team Canada scored its run, top 6th. After Yee and Lawrick flied out, Salling singled, Rafter doubled in the run. Ebert singled, but Tincher struck out Leah Riske. In the bottom, the USA again went down in order.
In the 7th, Victoria Hayward grounded out; Matthews flied out to left. Lever was hbp and Yee singled, the potential tying run. But, Tincher struck out Lawrick to end the game.
Winning pitcher: Angela Tincher, 8K. Losing pitcher: Jenna Caira. Canada outhit the USA 7 to 6.
Having split the four games at Softball City, the teams now move north to the Yukon for games in historic Whitehorse.
