VENEZUELA 8, CANADA 6
Caira started for Canada, gave up 5 runs – 2 in 1st and 2 in 3rd after Canada had scored two to tie. Plourde relieved after the three-run outburst.  Torres started for Venezuela; was charged with 2 runs in 3rd; Ramirez relieved, gave up a run in 6th.  Hayward, Lever and Wideman rbi’s. 5-3 Venezuela.  In the top 7th, Hayward singled; one out, Gilbert walked; Torres returned to the circle. Hopwood walked., loading the bases.  Jen Yee smashed a bases-clearing double, Canada 6-5. Two out, sub Polidori walked; sub Baird struck out.  Having led the entire game, Venezuela now trailed – briefly; ; one out, Alicart homered, 6-6. Sojo walked; Rojas singled; runners advanced on wild pitch; Puertas, whose walkoff homer sank Japan earlier in the week, was given a pass.  Bases loaded, Lozada hit a 2-run, walkoff double.  Venezuela 8-6.

Canada needed this game and its final pool game tonight against Team USA to stay even with Team USA in the win/loss column, but is now 2-2.  Canada and USA play at 830pm.

WP Stokes  LP Sara Driesenga. Save Murch.  Casey (5th) and Godfrey (4th)  drove in 2 runs each.   Doyle drove in the A’s run in the 6th.

Bottom 1st: Moultrie and Chavanne single; Chidester singles, rbi; two out, Hudson singles, 2 rbi.  Bottom 3rd: Chavanne hbp; one out, Chidester walks;  Chavanne scores on Arioto single; Hudson doubles, rbi, USA leads 5-0. Top 4th: Yee singles, Gilbert walks; Hopwood groumds to 3rd, runners advance; Yee scores on Lever single; two out, Hilbert scores on wild pitch. Bottom 4th, one out, Chavanne walks;  two out, Chidester rbi single, 6-2.  Top 5th, Rumpf singles; one out, Hayward singles, rbi, 6-3.  Bottom 5th: Ziegenhirt jacks solo shot, 7-3. Top 6th: Cheridan Hawkins relieves starter Sara Nevins.   One out, Wideman reaches on error at short (Salvarola). Polidori doubles. Rumpf hits 2-run double, 7-5.  Bottom 6th: Gibson homers, 8-5.   Top 7th, Valerie Arioto relieves Hawkins. Yee and Gilbert go out, but Hopwood and Lever single.  Jessica Moore becomes fourth USA pitcher.  Wideman out,  Canada leaves two on base.
