GOLD NATIONALS THURSDAY
The double elimination tournament continues to use two complexes – the Hall of Stadium fields in Oklahoma City and the Reaves fields in Norman.
A factor of life in ASA tournament play for teams which fall into the losers bracket, you may play at 830am, and rest until 230pm, but, you might play at 430pm and have another game at 830pm – and all of those games may not be at the same complex. There was a time when ASA required hosts to have eight contiguous fields, but that hasn’t happened since shepherds were tending flocks in the hills above Bethlehem. Today, virtually every major tournament uses one or more offsite complexes, regardless of sponsoring organization.
And, as happens at every tournament, given the parity among teams, Squads which looked so good at earlier tournaments, like Boulder and Aurora, are fighting their way up out of the losers bracket, while others are finding their game. Check the brackets (which are too large for
