PREMIER 12U National Championship
Firecrackers Quarles won the inaugural Premier Girls Fastpitch 12U national championship, defeating
Firecrackers Roman, 8-2. The final was played at Fullerton Stadium.
Several 12 yr old players showed considerable skill and poise.
Malia Quarles, who demonstrarted a cannon of an arm on several cross-diamond throws, was also the leading hitter, going 3-4, with a double and 3 rbi. Alyssa Kumiyama was 2-4, with an rbi. Sabrina Nunez was 1-2, with an rbi and 2 walks.
Naomi Dickerson was the winning pitcher. She gave up 10 hits, 2 runs, striking out 2.
Janea Brannen took the loss. Her leading batter was Janelle Rodriguez, 2-3 with a double. The Romans catcher, Maddy Valdez, was very impressive nailing three runners trying to steal.
