Gold Coast Hurricanes 4, SD Renegades 0

Excellent late afternoon game which attracted a crowd. 

GCH started Alyssa Bache (Florida), Renegades Kylie Diaz.  Hurricanes had eight hits, Renegades 7, with four scoreless innings.  Diaz provede on seeral plays to be a very good defensive pitcher.

Top 5th: Rios singled for GCH.  Wyckoff sacrificed. Birle walked, Archer in to run.  Hais fanned.  Two out, McCleney doubled in 2 runs.

Bottom 5th:  Renegades loaded bases.  Flippin reached on an error by Bache.  Peters and Randazzo singled.  Leslie Jury, who had pitched and won the Hurricanes first game 14-0 winover Worcester Hawks, relieved Bache.  Jury, committed to Alabama, resolved the threat.  Flippin was out at home on a fielder’s choice; a strikeout and groundout ended the inning.

Top 6th; Kirkpatrick walked, scored on Spivey single.

Top 7th: McCleney singled; with two out, Castro (Florida) walked, stole 2nd.  Leonard (Florida State) reached on an error at short, the final run scoring.

Wichita Mustangs 7, Cal Thunder 0

Friday’s winner bracket pits the GCH against the Wichita Mustangs, who beat Cal Thunder 7-0, then put Sparks in the loser’s bracket with an 8-0 win.

Against Thunder, the Mustangs pitcher tall, lanky Lauren Ainsley (Texas A&M).  Ainsley pitched a 3 hitter, while striking out 7.  Lauren Hynes took the loss.

Top 1st, Hugo singles, scores on Little’s single.  Top 3rd: Stewart and Little score on Davis’ double.  Top 6th: Little scores on Hampton single.  Bases loaded, Parsons lays down sac bunt, Davis scores on error at 1st.   Top 7th: Griggs scores on Hugo double; Hugo scores final run on Little single.  Mustangs leave bases loaded.

Team North Florida 2, Houston Power 0

Tight defense for much of game.  Power recorded first hit top 5th

TNF, which placed 2nd last year in Gold to Eastb Cobb Bullets, scored with 2 out in bottom 2nd.  Rawls walked, scored on Schinella single.  TNF scored second run bottom 6th.  Fagan singled; with two out, Carpenter singled; both runners advanced on an error in left, Fagan scoring.

Houston loaded the bases in the 7th, but Hoover, who had notched 2 strikeouts in the inning, struck out Caggiano to end the game.  TNF defeated OC Elite 10-0.

Team North Florida faces So Cal Athletics Smith on Friday.

OC Elite Greg 9, Wagner’s 2

WP Cherness.  LP Christian

Close game for 5 innings.  Elite scored top 1st on Blue homer.  Wagner’s scored 2 in bottom, Alcorn on Bush single, Weber on a wild pitch.  Elite tied in top 3red: Esteban scored on Blue single.

The wheels came off top 6th when Elite scored 7 runs.  Horn scored on Riley single.  Prukop on Esteban single.  Koke on Blue single.  Slye doubled in Ogata and Blue. Slye scored final run on wild pitch.  Elite was sent to loser’s bracket by Team North Florida.

Gold Coast Hurricanes 14, Worcester Hawks 0

GCH led 5-0 after 6, then racked 9 runs. In 7th, including a 2-run shot by Castro and a solo by Kirkpatrick.  Castro had 3 rbi; McCleney and Vermeulen had 2 rbi each, Kirkpatrick and Hais 2 rbis each.  WP Jury: LP Quackenbush.  Note: In Gold, teams play a full 7 innings, with no time rules.

Huntsville Sparks 6, Severna Park Hornets 1

Spy’s primary interest in this game was to watch Kaitlyn Schmeiser, who was All-Met pitcher in the MD/DC area.  She notched 10 Ks, but was tagged for 11 hits and 6 runs, all earned.  The Sparks broke a 1-1 tie with 5 runs, bottom 6th.  Sparks had scored bottom 3rd on homer by Cooper.  Hornets tied top 5th; Lindsey Schmeiser scored on sister’s grounder to short.  Bottom 6th: Cooper jacked a grand slam.  Borders scored final run on Denes single.  Kayla Hale was winning pitcher. 

WA Lake Breeze Leiter 5, St Louis Chaos 2

WP Ronnie Ladines with relief from Reubel.  LP Kelsea Dorsey.

Chaos took 1-0 lead bottom 2nd, Edwards scored on Potthast single.  Lake Breeze took lead with 4 runs, top 4th.  Kesterson jacked a 2-run shot; Levin immediately followed with a solo.  With 2 out, Blumenfeld scores on Fine’s double.  Bundy scored on Kesterson single in 5th.  Lake Breeze later lost to So Cal Athletics Smith 7-2.

American Pastime Gold 2, Miami Stingrays 0

Pastime scored a run top 2nd and made it hold up until scoring an insurance run top 7th.  Loie Kesterson held the Stingrays to 2 hits.  Haylie Wilson took the loss.

In the 2nd, Willingham was bp; Mann singled; Willingham scored on passed ball.  Pastime loaded bases in 4th, but Wilson struck out last 2 batters.  Stingrays got their first base runner, bottom 5th, when Martinez singled.  Barrow hit second single for Stingrays bottom 6th.  Gardea led the Pastime 7th with a double, scored with 2 out on fielder’s choice.  Pastime was sent to loser’s bracket by Strike Force, 3-1.
