ST LOUIS EXTREME ELITE 10, INDONESIA=JAKARTA 0
The Indonesians should have entered a plea of nolo contendre.  Extreme led 10-0 in the 2nd.  Kelsey Bailey pitched for Extreme, which \loaded bases top 1st, no outs.  A fielder’s choice play 6-2 prevented a run, but Lauren  Marlinghaus drove in the first run with a sac fly.   Top 2nd, a 9-run fusillade began when Amy Hunt hit a bases-loaded single, rbi.  Alexa Becker drove in 2 runs.  Annie Crouch followed with an rbi single.  Lauren Marlinghaus drove in another run.  KelseyBailey drew an rbi, bases-loaded walk.  Melanie Ypya brought in a run with a sac fly.  A run scored on an error at 3rd.  The tenth run scored on an error at short.

 

JAPAN 6, vs NEW ZEALAND 0
The Japanese, who are defending  champions at Canada Cup,  have a roster full of Olympic veterans, including long-time USA nemesis pitcher Yukiko Ueno, as well as OF Eri Yamada, catcher Yukiyo Mine,  and others US fans will remember from the Beijing Olympics, where Japan took the Gold by defeating Team USA.  Japan defeated USA at last year’s Canada Cup.

The surprise was not that Japan won, given its all-star lineup, but that the score was not highr.  Japan loaded thye bases four times, the last time led to three rbi.  Japan staked pitcher Yamato Fujita to a 2-0 lead in the third, after leaving bases loaded in the 2nd. With Mika Suzuki on base, leadoff hitter Misato Kawano jacked a home run.  Japan loaded bases again in the 4th, no runs.  In their final at-bat, three runners scored on rbi walks.  Finally, Haruno Sakamoto drove in the 6th run.

USA 5, VENEZUELA 4 (9)
Venezuela threw a hard challenge at Team USA, taking a 2-run lead, top 1st, on a 2-run homer by Juruby Alicart off Jordan Taylor.  The USA split the lead in the 2nd; one out, Valerie Arioto doubled, and scored on a Jenae Leles single.  In the 4th, Arioto reached on an infield hit, advanced on a Leles sac, and scored on a Lauren Gibson single.  The USA take the lead at 3-2 when Christie Orgeron scored on a Katie Cochran, giving the USA a 3-2 lead after four. Venezuela scored again ; Geraldine Puertas doubled, and scored on a sac fly.   Chelsea Thomas relieved Jordan – before this game ended, US coach would make more changes than Gypsy Rose Lee on the Minsky runway, Thomas yielding to Jackie Traina, and eventually to Keilani Ricketts.  In the 9th, ITB runner Maribel Riera scored for a Venezuela lead.  Down 2 runs, ITB runner Cochran scored on a sac fly, Stacy May Johnson walked, scored on a single by Michelle Moultrie.  WP Keilani Ricketts.

TEAM CANADA 11,  NEW ZEALAND 1 (4)

Leading 3-0 after 2, Canada yielded a run top 3rd; Avery scored on a hit by Brooke McManus; McManus was out at home on a groundout. In the bottom, Kaleigh Rafter doubled, Sheena Lawrick singled to right.  Kelsey Haberl  reached on an infield hit, no play; Carrie Leigh Thomas brought- in a run with a sac fly; 4-1, Heather Ebert  reached when her fly ball was dropped, rbi.  Victoria Hayward reached, Haberl scored, Gilbert drove in a run, 7-1; Joey Lye walked, bases loaded, Jen Yee  at bat, Hayward scored on a passed ball, Yee singled in 2 runs, 10-1, the Kiwis brought in their third pitcher; Rafter up for the second time this inning, reached on an error, New Zealand’s third.  Lawrick singled, rbi.  11-1.  Game ended on mercyrule in four innings,  Jenna Caira winning pitcher.

TEAM AUSTRALI A 13, TEAM PUERTO RUCO 0 (4)

Zara Mee pitched a masterful no-hitter allowing two walks.  Zara saved her no hitter when a ball rifld off her leg; ;she recovered and threw out the runner.

FIRECRACKERS 11, RIDGE MOUNTAIN PRIDE 0 (3)

Worth Firecrackers, playing in the Futures Gold Division, scored 8 runs bottom 1st, and 3 more in the second for the run rule.  Before the first out, Takeisho, Vanzee, Blanco, J Lindvall, Gonzakes, She4man and Afrucano scored.  With one out, Takeisho scored again.  In the 2nd, Gonzales, Sherman and Africano scored.  The winning pitcher, Parks, allowed one hit.  The Firecrackers are undefeated in the Gold Division.
