8-6-10 Japan Cup Friday

Team USA broke a 3-3 tie Friday to edge Chinese Taipei 4-3 on the first day of Japan Cup competition.  Eileen Canney was the winning pitcher.  Valerie Airoto jacked a home run.

A double and sacrifice fly generated the first run for Chinese Taipei, top 2nd.  Three singles and a sac fly produced two more runs off Canney in the 3rd

The USA scored when Arioto led off the 5th with a home run.  Hansen and Bramlett singled but were stranded.  Haber opened the 6th with a bunt single but was forced at 2nd by Cochran.  Leles and Arioto walked, loading the bases.  Langenfeld singled, Cochran and pinch runner Reid scored, tying the game.  Williams singled, reloading the bases, but Hansen lined into a double play.

After Chinese Taipei went down in order, top 7th, Bramlett walked, Charters singled.  Both advanced on Haber’s sac bunt.  Cochran was given a pass, loading the bases.  With two out, Arioto walked, forcing in Bramlett with the winning run.

On Saturday, the USA faces host Japan.
