ARIZONA STATE ATOP USA SOFTBALL POLL

According to the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 Collegiate Poll, Arizona State is again the top team in the nation announced today by the Amateur Softball Association. Competing in one of the toughest conference in the nation, Arizona State (52-3) has gone an impressive 14-1 in Pac 10 Conference play.

The Sun Devils, with 16 first-place votes, swept the Oregon schools this past weekend with a 4-1 win over Oregon State and two wins over Oregon, 6-1 and 9-0. No. 2 Florida (56-2) and No.3 Alabama (46-3) both went undefeated with Florida completing a sweep over Auburn and Alabama going 3-0 in non-conference play.

No. 12 Tennessee (46-10) fell out of the top 10 after going 1-1 against T23 Mississippi State while Fresno State (45-8) moved to No. 9 after sweeping Hawaii, with two games battling into extra innings.

There were no new teams in the Top 25 with Hawaii (33-16) making the biggest drop from 19 in last week’s poll to this week a tie for 23rd. Hawaii is currently on a six-game WAC losing streak over the past two weeks.
