Game Notes
Calif Cruisers Gold vs San Jose Strikkers (4-3). Kym Silagyi broke a 3-3 tie with a home run in the bottom of the 5th to push the Cruisers past the Strikkers. Bernice Masanial and Heather Johnson each added 2 hits. Briana Santos got the victory by shutting down the Strikkers in the final 3 innings.
Calif Cruisers Gold vs Team New Jersey (1-0). Rishelle Gastelum hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 6th off Melissa Hodge to lead the Cruisers. The Cruisers out hit TNJ 6 to 3. Cruiser pitchers Melissa Dykema and Stacey Nelson combined to shut down the strong hitting TNJ, striking out seven.
Calif Cruisers vs Texas Storm Gold (2-2). Cruisers took a 2-0 lead into last inning and gave up 2 runs on 2 hits giving Texas Storm Gold a comeback to tie. Texas Storm Gold left the winning run on third when Kelly Melone playing centerfield made an excellent catch in deep centerfield to end the game. Melissa Dykema shut down the Storm the first three innings striking out six of nine outs giving up only one single.
Team New Jersey 3, Gordon’s Panthers 0. Stanford’s prize recruits put on a show. Melissa Penna struck out 10, while yielding 2 hits, And Maddy Coon belted a 2-run homer to pace TNJ. Melissa Hodge hit a solo HR. Nicole Ayres pitched the last two innings for TNJ, striking out 5 – 15 total for the game. Brittany Weill pitched for the Panthers, a four-hitter, with 5 Ks. Brandy Reyes doubled in the 5th but was out trying to stretch the hit into a triple.
OC Batbusters GH1 6, Strike Zone 0. A 2-hitter by Amanda Williams.
Vancouver Ford 1, Strike Zone 1. Whitney Baker struck out 14 but yielded a solid triple to Alissa Haber who scored on a sac fly for the Strike Zone run. Jessica Iwasaki pitched for Strike Zone. Melissa Dubay, who walked, scored for Ford.
Golden Gloves 1, Sorcerer 18A 0. Fourteen year old freshman Joni Cook pitched thgree no-hit innings, and ace Heather Dixon pitched dour more no-hit innings. Dixon, who had reached on an error, scored the only run.
