Chinese Taipei advanced to the Gold Medal game of the World University Games on Sunday, setting up a rematch with the United States.
Japan won the Bronze Medal.
The game was effectively decided in the bottom of the 3rd inning when Taipei scored three runs. Chen Po-Jung led off with a single. Chen Miao-Yi reached on an error. Kung Hsiao-Li singled to drive in a run With one out, Hu Chia-Hsin singled, two runs scoring. Lia Chia-Chen scored the final run in the 6th, on an rbi by Wen Li-Hsiu.
Chueh Min-Hui started for Taipei, Mariko Goto for Japan. Japan thought it had scored in 6th, on a hit by Saori Shirai but the umpire ruled that the lead runner had missed 3rd.
