After a solo HR in the 2nd by Courtney Moore, the Bulldogs tacked on four runs in the 3rd; Jody Badonne’s single tied the game before Michelle Moses tagged a 3-4un homer. Taylor’s 2-run HR in the 4th narrowed the lead to 5-4. Texas had two on in the 7th but Lexy Bennett’s long ball was caught at the fence.

Vols: Grieve led with a HR; Huff rbi; Andrews drew a bases-loaded walk; Kajitani 2-run single. Chinn relieved Teagn Gerhart. Top 6th: Ivy Renfro, who had relieved Cat Hosfield, retired two batters but Haber walked, stole 2nd, Hansen given a pass; Rich drove in Haber with the tying run, 7-all. Burns doubled to lead the Cardinal 7th. Neill, who had an rbi earlier, worked a 3-2 count, walked. Koutz sacrificed. Van Zandt singled, loading the bases. Haber drew an rbi walk, 8-7 Cardinal. The first two Vols fanned; Kajitani grounded out to end the game.

Three consecutive walks led to two runs in the 2nd, before Hannah Howell, in relief of Zinanti, struck out the side. Salling scored on N Williams rbi in the 4th. Lawrie, who struck out the side in the 3rd, had 8 Ks in the first four innings.Purcell-Fitu broke up Lawrie’s no-hit bid with a single in the 5th. With Salling and Lawrie at the corners in top 6th (singles), N Williams walked, loading the bases, no outs. Stuart singled in the eighth and final run.
