DECEMBER 20 UPDATE
TEXAS TECH HIRES TERESA WILSON
Teresa Wilson confirmed to SPY today that she has accepted the position of head coach at Texas Tech.

|
Teresa’s selection, a much-rumored and well-received candidacy at the recent NFCA convention in Las Vegas, sparked a number of complimentary e-mails today to SPY and other web sites.
The former head coach at Washington, who was relieved of her duties despite a standout record, says she was sustained throughout the months away from softball by the support she has received from the softball community.
Teresa’s appointment becomes official on January 1. She will complete her move to Lubbock from Seattle by January 7yh or 8th, and will conduct her first Red Raider practice on January 9.
Texas Tech was 22-36 in 2004, but only 2-12 in the very tough Big 12 conference, the wins coming against Iowa State and Missouri. The Red Raiders hit .255 and their four pitchers had a combined ERA of 2.97. They were seriously outhit by Big 12 opponents, but, when you’ve grown up in tiny Pickering MO and the 28 students in your class won four state basketball championships, you know all about uphill challenges.
Welcome back, Teresa.
