Huskies stay at No. 1 with perfect weekend

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The University of Washington (17-1) remains the No. 1 softball team in the Nation for the fourth-straight week according to the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll announced today by the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America. The top-ranked Huskies went 5-0 at the Hawaii Invitational Tournament including an eight-inning 1-0 victory over host Hawaii.
No. 5 Michigan moved up two spots with two victories over a then-No. 6 Alabama. UCLA dropped just one spot to No. 6 after a 3-2 loss to UC Riverside while Arizona State cracked the top ten at No. 10 with a five win weekend, three of which were run rule victories.
The California Golden Bears moved up two spots to No. 13 with five wins giving the Pac-10 Conference six teams in the top 13. Louisville dropped three spots to No. 20 after two losses to Oklahoma and one to Oklahoma State. The Oklahoma State Cowgirls saw the week’s biggest improvement advancing from No. 24 to No. 19 with wins over ranked Oklahoma and Louisville.
No. 23 BYU, No. 24 Tennessee, and No. 25 Illinois all landed in this week’s poll each completing the weekend undefeated.
Fresno State, ULL, Kentucky all dropped out of the poll.
