STARKVILLE, Miss. – Freshman pitcher Teagan Gerhart of Stanford has been named as the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Player of the Week for games played between March 15-21.
Gerhart recorded four wins and one save for the Cardinal during an incredible week in which she tossed three consecutive no-hitters, including a perfect game. She allowed no runs, just three hits and one walk over 26 innings while striking out an astonishing 36 batters.
The Norco, Calif., native began her amazing weekend on Friday by throwing a perfect game against Santa Clara. Gerhart fanned 13 batters in the contest including the last eight to end the game.
On Saturday, the freshman was at it again striking out eight against Princeton and coming up just one team error short of her second consecutive perfect game. Later in the day, Gerhart allowed just one walk and sat down six versus St. Mary’s (CA) en route to her third straight no-hitter.
On Sunday, Gerhart notched her fourth complete game shutout of the weekend against Cal Poly and picked up her first collegiate save against St. Mary’s (CA), closing the book on a remarkable five-game stretch.
For the year, Gerhart is 13-2 with a 1.39 ERA and has not allowed a run to cross the plate in 36 straight innings of work.
