USA Softball has confirmed to SPY two changes in the pitcher corps for the Pan American games.  For different reasons, Jennie Finch and Catherine Osterman will not make this particular trip – but remain on Team USA.  Jennie Ritter, Michigan, and Alicia Hollowell, Arizona, have been added to the roster for the games.  Jamie Southern and Amanda Freed are the other pitchers previously announced.

POTPOURRI

Jack and Bobby.  President John Fitzgerald Kennedy was shot to death on this day in 1963 in Dallas, at the age of 46.  Jack would have turned 89 next May.  Bobby Kennedy, assassinated in 1968, would have turned 80 on November 20.  Hard to imagine two so very vigorous men as octogenarians.

Surgery.  In response to reader inquiries, I now have outpatient surgery scheduled for December 5, 9, 13, 16, 19.  For Christmas, I get the stitches removed.

Humor.  A Ronnie Isham special: Man forgets wedding anniversary.  Wife tells him she expects to wake up next day and find something in driveway that can go from 0 to 200 in second.  She walks out next day and finds bathroom scale in driveway.  Funeral services for husband are pending.

Your emails to SPY.  Name the subject.  My first order of business is Commitments, then unsigned seniors, then other breaking news.  If you leave the subject blank, I just might assume it’s a commercial.
