CHINESE PITCHERS

Chinese National Team Pitchers College Placement January 2007.

Hello Coaches. I have finally made a decision regarding the college placement of my college eligible CNST pitchers. I have spent many exhausting hours attempting to locate the required Information needed for NCAA eligibility. I have received no assistance from The Chinese Government. And very little assistance from the Chinese Softball Association. They truly have no Idea how our western world education process works. With that said. We are unable to get Wang Lan and Zhou Yin enrolled In NCAA Schools In January 2007. We will consider this option In the future. I am now going to start the process of placing Zhou Yin and Wang Lan In NJCAA Institutions. For the January 2007 Academic semester. And the complete 2007 Softball season. They both will need to return to the CNST In June 2007. I will be looking for the highest level of play available. Strong scheduling. Professional Pitching Instruction. And a program that can assist the student athletes with there language barrier Issues and the cultural differences. They both will need to have full scholarships made available to them. I thank you all for your Interest and assistance. Both Zhou Yin and Wang Lan have the opportunity to be members of our National Team for the 2008 Olympic Games. We will be considering any and all options available for them In 2009. I look forward to seeing you all soon. Sincerely,

THE CORNHUSKERS and the SOONERS

I offered a tongue-in-cheek comment regarding my attendance at Saturday’s Big 12 championship where we will be sitting amidst the Nebraska fans – and said Cornhuskers are not known for being civil at football games.  A reader from Nebraska took exception.  No insult intended.  Fact is emotions have always run high at Oklahoma-Nebraska games – on both sides of the field.  I can remember Oklahoma playing Nebraska just before the outbreak of WWII; my father and uncles were gathered in the living room, seated around this big Sylvania radio – and a young man from my home town named Hawkins – naturally called Sadie – was pinning Nebraska back with booming punts.  Dinner would not be served until the game was decided. Nebraska won 7-6.  I can remember my adrenalin spiked when Nebraska upset Oklahoma in 1971, 35-31, the so-called Game of the Century.  But, after all, it is just a football game, and I am sure all the fans will be charming, gracious, dignified, quiet, etc – at least until breakfast Saturday.

POWER AT THE PUMP

All we needed was a cracker barrel.  Senator Lincoln Chaffee, who lost on November 7, was the first to arrive at the McLean Sunoco.  Soon after came Sen. Patrick Leahy, who will chair the Judiciary Committee come January.  Then, former Senator Fred Dalton Thompson, now a star on Law and Order, pulled into the inspection line just ahead of me.  So we sat on the bench and chewed the day’s news.  Colin Powell is in once or twice a week with one of his Volvos.  Glad Virginia’s newest Senator lives in the southern part of the county; lived up to what some call his brassy ego reputation by dissing the President at a reception – which of course irritated all those who believe in showing respect for the office, and delighted all those who detest Bush because of Iraq and admire Webb as a rough-hewn independent thinker.  There are protocols for such events, and protocol is a highly prized value in the Senate.
