NOVEMBER 4 UPDATE

FLASH: ISF CHANGES TO 43 FEET

The International Softball Federation confirmed to SPY Friday afternoon that the recently-concluded Congress in Taiwan (last weekend) changed the pitching distance for junior women to 43 feet – effective immediately.

ISF has not yet posted the change on its web site, or on its rules page.

A question of critical import for the ASA Junior Olympic program is whether ASA will adopt this change at its Council meeting, which begins November 13 in Tucson.

ASA has resisted calls for extending the pitching distance to 43 feet, with particular focus on Gold, saying it must conform to the international standard set by ISF.  SPY has sent inquiries to ASA, and will post a reply when received.

The Town of Davie and their Parks and Recreation Department have made tremendous progress in restoring services to its citizens and to its facilities.  Their dedication to girl's softball and their desire to insure the success of this recruiting opportunity has been a major contributing factor in our ability to reschedule these important events.

The teams are overwhelmingly approving the new dates, and they are excited about being able to come to South Florida in January.

We would truly appreciate it if you could submit a new RSVP for the tournament and the camp so we know that you will be attending.
