TOURNAMENT ODDITY

While Hayley Megan Adkins was catching for East Cobb Bullets where her father, Dan, former coach of TX Glory, is an assistant coach, an unrelated Megan Adkins, whose father is also named Dan Adkins, was playing for FL Pembroke Pines Thunder Gold.  There was even a coach in the tournament with the same name as a former drug trafficker (no relation).  There were too many teams called Elite, Heat, DeMarini, Storm, etc. (side note: at one time, there was only one person in the whole United States whose first name was spelled Rayburn; a certain agency has a national data base and they checked; a necessary function when you are creating “legends” for people with assumed names.)

UNSIGNED SENIOR

SPY is publishing this note on the Front Page as well as the regular section.  Kelsey was asked to verbal to a D1 school a year ago and did so, receiving a written commitment; on October 22, a new coach at that school said she would no longer be offered a scholarship.  I know early verbals are not binding but, as this player noted to SPY, she was “off the market” all these months because she thought she had a two-way commitment.
