LIONETTES AT THE HOYSHOTS

Saturday:

Lionettes 6  Arizona Outlaws 4

Lionettes 0  Hot Shots-Neuman 0

Note:  In this game Katie Gaskill pitched a no hitter and struck out 13 .  Lionettes stranded 10 baserunners

Lionettes 4  New Mexico Sundancers 0

Sunday:

Lionettes  0  Tuff-N-Tuffer  2

Note:  In this game Katie Gaskill pitched a 1 hitter and struck out 14 for the Lionettes.   A base hit in the 6th was the only hit and then a fly ball was dropped by the Lionette CF and booted to allow both runs to score.  These were the only two baserunners she allowed.  The game ended on a sour note as the Lionettes had runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs and the umpire told both coaches that there was 5 minutes left in the game and the Lionettes were the home team.  The Tuff-N-Tuffer coach called time and informed his pitcher to walk our hitter intentionally to kill time and then went back out to the mound for another conference until time was called by the umpire.  Like you have said this is not about the wins or the losses but letting the girls play no matter what the outcome will be until the time is called and then what it is -STANDS!  I can tell you this the LIONETTES will never STALL regardless of the outcome in an exposure tournament.  Their pitcher pitched a great game as well and it was very well played by both teams until that incident!!

Lionettes  3  Arizona Suncats  0

Season Note of interest:  Christine Hiner a junior from Pacifica High School has absolutely been awesome in the 4 exposure tournaments the Lionettes have played in.  She has in those 4 torunaments had somewhere between 35 to 40 hits in approximately 60 at bats.  We are trying to confirm the exact number but in any case she has been awesome with the bat and is one of five pitchers the Lionettes have:  (Katie Gaskill - University of Georgia / Taylor Peyton - Boston College / Amanda Gabriel - George Washington University / Jessica Dresslar a sophmore from Vista Murietta High School which is same school as Gaskill and then Hiner herself.

ADULT READING

When I was a student, Dostoevsky, Aquinas, et al satisfied my intellectual appetite. Career in hand, reading included foreign affairs journals and spy/adventure novels while I pursued the trails blazed by Hemingway. Griffith, Clancy, LeCarre, Ignatius etc set their stories in foreign ports of call I knew well.  On the plane Monday, fellow passengers laughed when they saw my new illustrated guide, Potty Training for Puppies.  Sammy refuses to read it.
